I am currently working with Just Right Press to make some risograph prints
Riso is a very cool form of digital printmaking from the 80s that is sort of like putting screen printing (gif of me screen printing) inside of what appears to be a standard office photocopying machine.
Each color requires a separate run. Every new layer introduces a guaranteed tiny mistake. These mistakes are often very beautiful as they result in subtle color overlaps that just don't happen with digital printing. Not to mention the grain texture. THE TEXTURE!!
Riso is very popular with comic book and zine artists for these reasons- plus once you get going it can be a very cost effective way to make a ton of color prints.
Attached are some process photos with the two print runs that are in progress. Jules- who runs Just Right Press has been super helpful throughout the whole process- providing a ton of photos and color options!
