11th Hour Request (and Happy Halloween!)

It has literally just ticked over to 11pm here on the West Coast and I need to launch a video before the day is out. So that gives us an hour at most. Your feedback on the title and thumbnail of the helicopter video was incredibly helpful. I got the poll results after launch and quickly switched to your preferred title and thumbnail and clickthrough measurably improved.

Now here is a poll for the next title and thumbnail: https://forms.gle/eM9Z1D1Eda1tStKs6

This is one of those videos we've been working on for months. We have made and remade sections of it, have hired animators to make beautiful pieces of art to go in the video, and consulted with experts and all the sources we could get our hands on (including many not in English). I would really appreciate your help making sure this video gets out to as many people as possible.

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and feedback. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. I have linked a sneak preview to the video by way of saying thank you.

Best,

Derek

Absolutely loved this video, but I think there's a small mistake in the equation at around 12 minutes. The first two x terms on the second line are b^2x/(9a) and 2b^2x/(9a) if I do the math. This also corresponds with the depressed cubic equation on the third line that you get if you add up all the terms.

I loved this video— but there’s a real missed opportunity. There were Math Duels!! Let’s get a video about that.

There's barely any time to vote before the vid goes up :(

While prob too late, I voted anyway. However, ... these all lean into the nerd world. Do you assume that's your "people" and then just be more click-likely? Or would you want to try to pull in a wider audience? While this appears to be a topic of import to almost everyone, these thumbnails would likely turn off a huge fraction of the non-nerd population (IMHO). Would "The origin of modern science" be too much of a stretch? And find/create a more organic-looking picture. Maybe a family of order-three curves, with different colors (for no good reason)? Just a thought...

having now watched the video I am tending to agree with Robert. Maybe the title should be be "the unsolvable problem that led to Quantum Physics". Maybe remove the parentheses.

love the video Derek - the narrative style and the almost climactic application to quantum physics . Very well paced, and puts the 'i' firmly in its place of importance in physics

Paul Looyen

Breaking math and quantum physics are good buzz words. Much more interesting/ intriguing than the others where it’s not quite clear what it’s about. Choosing between math or reality - not sure who’d truly care except us nerds - or those who just watched Free Guy.

Dropbox link at the top - thanks Paul!

The second one for me but where is the sneak peak?

Paul Looyen

Eastern Hemisphere to the rescue! I think having just the abstract shape in the thumbnail with no text will be more intriguing 🧐

Nadav Goldenberg

Well I'm intrigued by all of those titles (but I did vote anyway)! Looking forward to seeing it!
