Oh I've often thought that too! I love research and would love to help :)

Diana Jacobacci

Thanks for the session. Great podcast. Always look forward to a new episode and revisiting old ones. Cheers.

Tony

Yes, this was my first time finally catching you, and I'm so glad I did, thank you again!

Gretchen Milyko

We will be back for the alternative time zone AMA at 9pm tonight. (9 hours from now). Thank you everyone for joining in. Have a good day/night.

Casefile True Crime

The only thing that's off limits generally is cases that have been saturated. Like OJ for example. Other then that. There's nothing really off limits.

Casefile True Crime

You talk about Snowtown a lot as being really hard for you to do, so I'm wondering if there are other cases that you've looked at, deemed too much, and decided to pass on. Is there any case that's off limits to you guys? Any cases you don't want to do?

Samantha Andrasko

Thank you Mikki.

Casefile True Crime

Anymore?

Casefile True Crime

We shall leave it there for this one. Unless there's anyone?

Casefile True Crime

Thank you so much for doing this again! It's clear we are all so in love with the work you're doing. Keep up the amazing job.

Mikki

Thank you πŸ‘

Casefile True Crime

Yep. Currently over 400 on the lair and growing daily. It's hard to explain. There's nothing specific that determines that. But you'll just be looking at a case and something about will grab you. And that's how it's done usually. Nothing to scientific about it.

Casefile True Crime

If you need any volunteers that can do anything across the water let us know.

ann

I presume there are a lot of cases the team would like to cover. How are cases prioritized? Are there any overarching themes the team is looking to achieve or guiding principles in your case selection?

Tony

No that hasn't happened at all.

Casefile True Crime

Do you ever get families of the victims or those involved in the case contacting you after an episode has aired - to offer further insight or offering to be interviewed?

Captain Flint

In one case yes. The others no.

Casefile True Crime

You have gained the trust of victims and family to be part of the episodes. When you approach them had any heard of Casefile? Or did you have to explain the project?

Karl

No thankfully that hasn't happened yet. But yes the level of detail can be difficult. You do need to walk away at times especially with cases like Snowtown.

Casefile True Crime

I'm curious if anyone involved in the show has ever come across a picture or case that is too difficult to cover. With the amount of research that goes into each episode, it seems that it would be easy to become overwhelmed.

Erica Hoke

He should have done himself a favour and listened πŸ˜‰

Mikki

I would do it on my favourite sport. Rugby league. Or on music. Punk music.

Casefile True Crime

Just in my spare bedroom! It's not treated or designed for recording. Thank Mike Migas - producer extrordainare!

Casefile True Crime

Sorry the you tube commenter obviously listened. But was mistaken. Then Chris just responded to that comment. We got that specific information direct from Chris's website.

Casefile True Crime

No I don't think that was ever clear. By the way that videographer just want on a rant about us saying how we accused HIM of being the one not to hand the tape over. He was responding to. A you tube comment. Neither of them listened to the episode obviously. As we were quite clear the videographer handed it over straight away.

Casefile True Crime

Hello from Texas! If you could host a podcast on any other subjects, what would they be?

Samantha Andrasko

Where do you record? You always sound great.

Megan

With the Amy Lynn Bradley case, did they ever uncover WHY the man (forgive me for not remembering his name right now) never gave them the VHS that the videographer had given him?

Mikki

Yeah it was the most taxing. Longest. Getting the scripts right and flowing. But worth it.

Casefile True Crime

It's just dive in and don't stop digging. Depends on the case. It could be anywhere from talking to police to survivors/families. Visiting libraries and newspaper archives. To doing any number of other things.

Casefile True Crime

No I wouldn't say it's been taxing mentally. It's always been in unsolved cases - so we are Just happy to do whatever we can to help. However small it may be.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Joan. That is our number 1 priority.

Casefile True Crime

Would you say recording the EAR/ONS episodes was the most difficult you have had to do so far? P.S. I thought it was very respectful to the victims the way you covered all of his crimes

Captain Flint

Actually to answer your question. I'd say EARONS. Was happy we were able to present all of that information on such a long standing major unsolved case. It wasn't for everyone and it was information overload for some - but I wouldn't have done it any other way. I think it was important to dive deep into that one.

Casefile True Crime

How do you get the basic research, i.e., the info that makes it sound like you have the actual police casefile?

Nick P

Thank you Ann.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you all :) it's very overwhelming the support.

Casefile True Crime

Has speaking to a family member or friend of a victim/survivor ever stuck with you? I'd imagine they can be taxing mentally sometimes.

Mikki

For a one hour stand alone. 1-2 weeks minimum. You are right they are very intensive to put together. The research and writing takes an incredibly long time. So we are never really on a 'break' when there's no episode. It just means we couldn't get one done in time.

Casefile True Crime

I don't really have any questions this month, I just want to say how much I loved the Anita Cobby episode. The way the Casefile team helped us understand what was happening with John for years to come, as well as going into the trial really added to the episode. I feel like Casefile really respects the victims and survivors.

Joan G

Hello from Ca. I've listened to a few now and I do think you do a great job and Casefile has more emotional energy than some of the others. And I appreciate how fast you talk and wish your peers could follow. Thank you for your hard work.

ann

for real Casefile is so good I will support this until you push me out. EAR/ONS episodes are my favorite

Megan

PS Your podcasts are THE BEST!

Jenny Barker

Come on man! Casefile is the best!

Captain Flint

Too hard on yourself! I've yet to hear a bad one!

Mikki

How long does it take to put together a stand alone episode? It seems to me that heaps of research must go into each one.

Jenny Barker

😊

Casefile True Crime

DUDE WHAT.

Megan

Nah I don't really feel proud of them. I'm very self critical. I don't think any of them are good.

Casefile True Crime

Beautiful accent 😍

Mikki

Do you have an episode you feel most proud of?

Megan

Yes Australian :)

Casefile True Crime

US. Yeah I think most would know of it. But probably not the full story.

Casefile True Crime

I personally prefer diving into unsolved cases. In saying that - there are some important solved cases to tell as well.

Casefile True Crime

So this always seems to bug me. But your accent is Australian right? Not British.

Heather Rose Glasier

The 3 parter coming next: is it a famous case? what country?

Nick P

Do you prefer to present cases that are solved or unsolved?

Captain Flint

Yes it is very difficult to say. There could indeed just be a simple explanation for it. Being in the middle of the ocean on a boat - a lot of things could happen. Just feel bad for the family never knowing.

Captain Flint

Thanks :) But it's more like one long episode broken up into three parts. But it's not one I think will really suit being spread out over three weeks. So we are going to release it all once. It's more a slow building one that builds up as it goes along.

Casefile True Crime

Three episodes in one week?! That's amazing!

Joan G

I understand. As I say I really appreciate that you just present the facts. It's what makes it (imo) the best true crime podcast out there.

Captain Flint

This case has eaten at my brain for years. I flip flop every so often. Did she fall victim to someone? Is there a more simple explanation? I don't know.

Megan

Yeah. I don't like making speculative guesses on the information that is hand. In order to say definitely what I feel I'd want a look at the police file. Everyone's statements/interviews all of the evidence. Which obviously - is never going to happen.

Casefile True Crime

:)

Casefile True Crime

Nah doesn't worry me at all. I'm happy being in the shadows.

Casefile True Crime

You all work so hard, 3 episodes and then weekly! Spoiling us. Really awesome news, thank you!

Gretchen Milyko

Thank you Casey :)

Casefile True Crime

Hello Mr. Anon - I know you present cases from an unbiased angle and I highly appreciate that! But I was just wondering your personal view on the Amy Lynn Bradley case. Do you think that "Yellow" was involved and knows what happened to her? I understand if you don't want to answer this question :)

Captain Flint

Glad to hear it Megan. Phoned in episodes is the last thing we want.

Casefile True Crime

With yourself staying anonymous, and you being nominated for awards and such, do you ever just wish once you could be involved with the reception of the award? Rather than staying behind the scenes? It must be hard to remain anonymous with all the attention your podcast has been receiving.

Mikki

3 episodes at once? Well, there goes Sept 16th being a productive day. Keep doing what you do, the show is fantastic. You, S&S, the Bugle, and Hardcore History are pretty much all I ever listen to anymore.

Casey Roche

Honestly I'm completely ok with this. I've never felt like any episode has been phoned in and team is well deserving of a break anyway

Megan

Yes I used to love that show! Watched it all the time.

Casefile True Crime

So things are changing from now on in the casefile camp. Some inside Patreon info for you all. There won't be an episode until September 16th. But it will be a three parter - but all three parts released at once. From then on they plan is to have an episode pretty much once per week to close out the year. That's the plan. And we are working really hard right now to make that happen. So we aren't off taking a break. We are trying to make things so that there will be regular episodes from now till the end of the year!

Casefile True Crime

So am I!

Captain Flint

Hello Heather.

Casefile True Crime

Hello Mikki. Thanks for introducing your friends to us. It varies. But now for instance. Case 60 is currently in the works. Anna has several others going at the moment. 2 or 3. Vicky is on another at the moment. So probably about 5 right now. With many more planned.

Casefile True Crime

Do you love Unsolved Mysteries as much as I do? I grew up watching it and am slowly rewatching it on Amazon now

Megan

Hello. I know the production of your episodes is probably rather taxing on the group so plans change, but do you have an idea of how many more episodes through the end of '17?

Casey Roche

Hello there

Heather Rose Glasier

Thank you so much for doing this again! Writing from Canada. Finally starting to get my friends to listen. Took them long enough πŸ™„ but they love you also! My question is regarding your research. How many episodes are you researching at any given time?

Mikki

Hello Megan :)

Casefile True Crime

Hello!!! I got the time right!

Megan
