Thanks Host and Anna! Congrats on the 100 million downloads!

Joan G

Thank you Sam

Casefile True Crime

The post cast is doing extreamly well, you must be so proud! Keep up the wonderful work.

Sam

Thank you Manjari. Yeah sure. I reckon we can get other casefile team members to do AMAs in the future.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you all so much for joining in the AMA and thank you all for your support.

Casefile True Crime

Snowtown as far as disturbing details. But all of the unsolved ones as well. Pafticuarly those where we have had contact with family members.

Casefile True Crime

Of the cases you've covered, which has stuck with you the most?

Joan G

He has done several podcasts to promote his book but also shares some great stories of his career

Andrew Eastwood

He would certainly be interesring to talk too.

Casefile True Crime

We havent no. Not a bad idea though.

Casefile True Crime

Also, many thanks to Anna for taking the time to answer me. :)

WillOwl11

This is one of the very interesting perspective of your podcast for me, since we usually don't see the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. Are you planning to have some of your team members on the AMA chat in the future? Or is it a very unpopular demand to satisfy?

WillOwl11

Take your time! I don't put a time limit on these either. :) I'm interested because I'm into research and writing as well, although on the technical side. The worst thing I deal with is understanding programmer's language!

WillOwl11

I am new To true crime yes, but I have been researching true crime for my own interests since I was a teenager, I was that person with the law & order ringtone. So the shock and horror is not new to me. But what I really have found challenging is the delicate balance between telling a great story and respecting those involved. Sometimes i have to read over things multiple times to make sure it's the right thing to say. This is very different than other research areas! This is people's suffering, I get through this by thinking, if this was me or my loved one....

Casefile True Crime

Here is Anna's response Manjari.

Casefile True Crime

Have you thought of doing interviews? People such as Ron Iddles?

Andrew Eastwood

Shouldnt be too much longer Manjari

Casefile True Crime

Nice work! Thanks for recommending us.

Casefile True Crime

Yeah great books. I've ready many of them more then once. No worries Gillian. Always a pleasure to run these AMA's.

Casefile True Crime

FYI I have just finished showing my old lady how to listen to podcasts. I gave her two suggestions to subscribe and listen to, casefile and conversations lol

Andrew Eastwood

I've never read any Michael Connelly, I might even download one of his now. Thanks, for the recommendation, Host and thanks for chatting with us.

Gillian Freeman

Thank you :)

Casefile True Crime

Nope i didn't and duly noted and respected :)

Cathryn Adams

I remember the fear people had that anyone could be next. It was shocking; like a massacre in slow motion.

Nick P

Sorry Cathryn, I won't answer anything related to me personally. Sorry. I mentioned that back in the very first few AMA's. But I understand not everyone would have seen those.

Casefile True Crime

I hesitate to ask, but can you say what industry you're usually in? I imagine you're a journo..? Sorry if too personal!! I just wonder because the quality of work is so good.

Cathryn Adams

Good point Cathryn.

Casefile True Crime

Maybe allowing input on what cases get selected? Not sure if practical though.

Nick P

I think that one of the great things about this podcast, as with other shared mass comms, is the sense of boundary-less community it fosters around the world, between like minded people. So releasing them earlier, while a privilege, would seem to contradict the community of listeners... if that makes sense. I like it all as is, but incorporating video bonuses online would be the logical next step for me.

Cathryn Adams

Still around if there are anymore questions.

Casefile True Crime

I like it. Will definitely start thinking about this. Can't guarantee it would be anything great, but I like the idea. Good stuff.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you very much! :)

WillOwl11

Yes! That sort of stuff would be great. I wouldn't want anything to take away from the genuine face value of the podcast, the honesty behind it has always appealed to me and it would be a shame to loose that through paywalls or hidden episodes. But additional bonus stuff would be great!

Monny Pirovano

Hi Manjari. No worries. I don't put a time limit on these. I'll ask and get back to you.

Casefile True Crime

I second that idea!

Andrew Eastwood

I'm happy as it is. I figure the contribution is to help you do what you do. And you all do it so well.

Gillian Freeman

What about some behind the scenes bonuses? i.e. How you prep for the podcast, recording etc. obviously not including the narration! ;)

Amity B

Hi! I'm a bit late but my question is actually for Anna, is she's available. I remember she'd mentioned that she's new to true crime research while talking about the EARONS case. What does she feel is unique or challenging to true crime from a research perspective? Other than the psychological reaction to some horrific things, of course.

WillOwl11

No worries. Hopefully I'll be able to keep a straight face and play dumb of it ever happens :)

Casefile True Crime

I've thought about that with other podcasts releasing episodes early. For me that wouldn't really have additional value, I think I'd sooner be sad about already having heard the podcast when it airs for everyone, then happy about being able to snipe it a few days earlier

Monny Pirovano

Can't guarantee we will cover it. But very possible. Has been requested a few times.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you :) I have been curious about that for a while, lol.

Amity B

Yep. It is on our list of potentials.

Casefile True Crime

Have you considered doing an epiaode on the Washington DC sniper murders?

Nick P

Hi Amity. That is a good one. Don't mind answering at all. I Can honestly say no one ever has!

Casefile True Crime

Casefile team member Anna is also around if you have any questions for her. We are currently discussing ways to improve the Patreon experience. One request from a lot of you has been early release on episodes for Patreon supporters. Any other ideas out there?

Casefile True Crime

Great question!!

Andrew Eastwood

Hi Host :) Has anyone recognised you when you've been going about your day to day activities from hearing your voice? No worries if you don't want to answer this one!

Amity B

No unfortunately. We are monitoring a few cases. Claremont. And Family Law Court Murders. Even today's episode On Simone Strobel. Others as well. But nothing in the immediate future.

Casefile True Crime

Doesn't sound like something I'd fancy watching.

Gillian Freeman

Are there anymore mini update episodes coming any time soon?

Nick P

I took a deep breath and clicked play. I last 1 minute then nearly vomited. I dread to know what the other 3 minutes were like.

Andrew Eastwood

Haha I so agree! Watching it didn't even come across my mind, I do like my sleep

Monny Pirovano

Doesn't sound like we will be covering that one then!

Casefile True Crime

I couldn't watch the video, I think I'd have PTSD if I did, going by the description of it!!!

Daniel Russo

Yeah well that's what we were all hoping. Get through the Thurston/Smith/Cronk/Slater/GI era. Then Cameron Munster comes out and puts in a performance like he did. Gagai was absolutely brilliant. Player of the series. I think there is some dark days ahead still for NSW unfortunately.

Casefile True Crime

Yes so did I. I was very disturbing. I battled with my conscious wether to watch the video or not.

Andrew Eastwood

Laurie Daley looked like he'd been on a 3-day bender pre match haha. It was all a bit confusing, I'd pegged them to beat us by loads. Anyway, it won't always be so one-sided. The days of the Aussie cricket dominance are over too :(

Gillian Freeman

Yeah there was one just last week, that dude was/is sick

Monny Pirovano

I listened to Luka magnotta on another podcast, it was so disturbing but fascinating at the same time

Daniel Russo

There's probably a 4th amendment issue there that would make that impossible

Nick P

I remember my father begrudgingly surrendering his semi autos but to this day he agrees it needed to be done.

Andrew Eastwood

Hmm, Yeah that would be interesting. Wonder what the reaction would be if that was proposed.

Casefile True Crime

What most think these days

Casefile True Crime

Lol @ Sia Wig

Andrew Eastwood

Yeah I was pretty young when it happened. So I don't really remember the debates and controversy side of things. But Andrew has nailed it with what most hunk these days.

Casefile True Crime

Thanks also for doing the staggered timing AMAs, for us international fans! What I love about Casefile is learning new details about cases which I'm already aware of, plus new cases I didn't know about; I'm excited for the upcoming British episode, though each and every show you do is brilliant. On the subject of EARONS, I find it incredible really that it isn't standard procedure to take a DNA sample from someone once they've died, to run it through the database. Imagine how many unsolved crimes could be cleared up that way, that would otherwise go forever undetected? Of course, I'm all for compulsory national databases...!

Steve D

It was controversial at the time but 20 years later I think most Australians agree that is was a good move

Andrew Eastwood

Great to hear you had a good time, were not too bad ;) also I forgot to say, but thanks for the double time slot. Actually gave me a shot to chip in :-)

Monny Pirovano

We are used to it. No biggie. Could tell in the very early part of the game they were gone. Reminded me of teams that used to play our dominant Aussie cricket teams with Warne, Mcgrath, Waugh and co. Teams were beaten before the match. England in the 90s in particular. That's what game three looked like. It Was over before it started.

Casefile True Crime

He could wear a Sia wig haha

Gillian Freeman

Port Arthur led to dramatic changes in gun laws in Australia. Do most Australians think that should be obvious, or is it still controversial? Here in the USA, it seems that would be impossible to ever happen.

Nick P

Haha well since you mentioned it, it was a fantastic win for QLD... again :)

Gillian Freeman

Thank you Steve. Thanks for joining. Always a pleasure to speak to our Patreon supporters. We do have a British one coming up in the next 3-6 weeks. Not sure off the top of my head exactly when it will drop. But one is being worked on. Agree. Can only pray he is caught one day. Or at least identified for closure if he is dead.

Casefile True Crime

I second that, a worldwide live tour. I'd definitely go!

Steve D

Yeah but it would be unique

Andrew Eastwood

Haha. Yeah. Or a really good make up job. Would be a bit awkward. Sillohute behind a screen or something. Who knows.

Casefile True Crime

Now cue the insults about the state of Origin :(

Casefile True Crime

How cool would it be to do some live shows! You would have to wear a balaclava or something to hide your identity though

Andrew Eastwood

Thank you Gillian.

Casefile True Crime

An Australian one :) Can't give too much away.

Casefile True Crime

What do you have in mind?

Casefile True Crime

Although one Anna recommends is Canadian True Crime. Very good.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Host, and greetings from the UK; it's a pleasure to be speaking with you. Thank you for the immense amount of hard work you and your team do in making each Casefile episode; I love listening to them. The EARONS editions were incredible to say the least; how that guy hasn't been caught yet is astonishing. Do you have any British cases upcoming?

Steve D

Any clues will give it away.

Casefile True Crime

Yeah definitely. If we find the appropriate cases.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Host, congratulations on another big milestone and continuing to do such a great job. I found today's case really fascinating. I'd never heard of it either.

Gillian Freeman

Yeah we saw on social a lot of people picked Milat. So you were alone there.

Casefile True Crime

What state is the podcast produced in?

Andrew Eastwood

My second team in world cups. If Australia is knocked out or didn't qualify.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you very much Monny. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Netherlands - a few years ago now. Great spot.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Daniel. I don't actually listen to any true crime podcasts myself. But I'm sure plenty of others will be able to help you out. The podcast I listen too. Are Hardcore History. Joe Rogan. And Jocko podcast. Plus Rugby league related podcasts. My favourite sport.

Casefile True Crime

Would it be possible to utilise a chat app to accommodate the AMA's in the future?

Anastasia

I enjoyed the format of the Donna Wheeler episode hat was set up as a whodunit with three suspects. Any chance you will do more cases like that?

Nick P

Mr Cruel.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Cathryn. Yes been back full time since about May last year. It's definitely challenging. But also rewarding. Very fortunate to have such an awesome team. Wouldn't be possible without them.

Casefile True Crime

Exciting! I thought today's was going to Milat, so was pleasantly surprised. If that's a thing.

Cathryn Adams

Clue?

Anastasia

For sure. Very possible we could.

Casefile True Crime

Netherlands checking in. Just want to compliment and thank you for all your hard work, you create a uniquely fantastic podcast me and some of my friends look forward to each week :)

Monny Pirovano

Casefile is by far my fav crime podcast 🙌🏽🙌🏽 but what's your suggestions for other like minded podcasts out there to fill in my drive time between casefile episodes?

Daniel Russo

At this stage yes. Unfortunately. Would rather keep the quality as high as we possibly can over quantity.

Casefile True Crime

In your opinion do you think Mr Cruel really abducted Carmen or was it a drug related payback?

Andrew Eastwood

Doubtful given the amount of research and work involved. But should never say never.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Host, cracking job. Loving the difference between the long series intensive style vs the one offs like today. I recall you saying in the beginning that it began due to time off work, but, are you back and working full time now? That would be quite challenging.

Cathryn Adams

Once there is more information regarding the Karen Ristevski case I hope that you consider covering it...

Anastasia

I couldn't possibly choose. All of the ones we have covered.

Casefile True Crime

Unreasonable? Unrealistic?

Anastasia

Any chance of 2 episodes per week?

Anastasia

Thank you Arnolphe

Casefile True Crime

If there could be one unsolved case, either covered by Casefile or not, that could be solved tomorrow what would you choose?

Nick P

I Should probably come up with something better then host! But for now I guess it is.

Casefile True Crime

Where do you join us from

Casefile True Crime

Is "Host" your official podcast name now?

Andrew Eastwood
