GrowthRPG V0.4.0

Itch.io Link

Changelog

Focus this month was on adding a new dungeon. This one should help players get a foothold in the game, meant for very low levels. The new dungeon can be found in town, the entrance is the well.

Along with the dungeon there is a new quest for the blacksmith and a new weapon.

Big thanks to Delta-Tango again for the dungeon models

I'm going on vacation next week so I havent decided when the hotfix will come out, probably Tuesday

GrowthRPG V0.4.0

Comments

I definitely could give NPCs more ways to grow them and over time I will add more NPCs, I wanted to wait till I got the visual stuff done to start adding more in though to make it easier. Could definitely do something like a gym coach that explains everything.

First I want to say I really like your game and appreciate the effort you put into it! I like that you can grow enemies by beating them and I wish there was a way to grow the NPCs (the Cook, the Apothecary and the Blacksmith, maybe even the new Town Guard), either by letting us fight them and/or some other way. For example the merchants could grow whenever you buy something from them, like their limited stock to keep it in check, and you could have the Town Guard give out the bounties and have him grow whenever you complete one. This would incentivize more interaction with them, which I find I don't do very often, as I find most of my items when going through the dungeons. On that last note, if we go down the route of tying game functions to Town NPCs and growing them, another suggestion would be to split up the functions of the Apothecary, who sells potions, and add another NPC (maybe an Alchemist or a Jeweler) for Essence Infusion/Transmutation. And I am surprised that there is not a Coach who explains and advertises the gym. But I understand that making new models and systems is probably the the hardest part of development, so this is just a suggestion. It would be completely sufficient if we could simply fight the NPCs, as it seems the systems for that are already in place, as you can already fight them in the bounties. Finally, in my opinion, the Barrel Master, Bunshido and Foreman don't grow fast enough when compared to Beast and Bandit Boss. I think making them grow faster is firstly more rewarding and secondly it actually makes you lose at some point, which drives up the stakes. Again, I want to thank you for this game and wish you the best!

also if you get into a battle after opening the door to the blacksmith in the sewers by searching the nearby grey chest, you get locked in the room.
