It's already been 2 years since I last posted here, but it really doesn't feel that long ago.
First let me apologize for going so long without any posts or updates on my work. There are a lot of you who stuck by all this time waiting for me (or perhaps you just forgot you pledged), and I'd like to thank you all. I graduated from university last Winter and got a "real job" not long after. However I was still working on SQII and other projects on my own time away from the eye of Patreon or anywhere else really. Bear with me because I have a lot to cover.
Some time ago I made the decision to start working on SQII again and forgo all of the side projects and plans I had before. I started from scratch and thought of a way to make the game I want with plenty of content for players to enjoy. Many of the past systems I came up with have been discarded and the current version of SQII is very much a return to form of the first version I made.
You, the player, will not have many options during a spanking scene when the player gives a spanking. The pace at which the spanking goes regarding when implements are changed or clothes are bared are all fixed in place. In exchange, for nearly every scene when the player can give a spanking, they will have multiple options for how it will be conducted. Ahead of the spanking you will choose how severe it will be, what implement will be used, among other options. These options will vary in severity but will typically not have any major changes in the story or progression of events. The reverse is also true when the player character received a spanking. The player will have a few choices they can make in how they react to the spanking, but each is more for flair than of significant consequence. I made this design choice as a way to facilitate enjoyment of the player by not being overly concerned with the consequences of their choices. There will still be times when choices will have greater changes in the story, but I don't want to over-saturate the game with those situations.
In a trade off for the extensive control I originally wanted to give players, I'm adding graphics for every spanking scene as well. They are handled nearly identically to the way they worked in prior versions of the game. Corresponding to the spanking as it takes place. The system for marks/redness is also improved, every implement category will have unique mark designs, with 3 variations in each. That means there are light marks, heavy marks, and bruises for every implement type including paddles, canes, brushes, belts, and many more.
A big part that kept me from being productive on the game was the monotony of working with the same characters and plot all this time. It's been for over 2 years I've been trying to make a system work with the same few characters so it's no surprise things have been dull. To fix this I massively restructured the main quest of the first town to be something brand new, and honestly I think it's a big improvement over what existed before.
So by now you reading this are probably thinking something along the lines of "well that's great and all, but you always had all of these plans you talked about back before you took a hiatus, when am I actually going to see something I can play?". The answer is... as soon as tomorrow potentially!
I said "as soon as", and honestly tomorrow would be a bit of a rush, and if I took 2 years to get something out it wouldn't be my best move to soil it by rushing a day. At the moment I have the main quest of Tungsten Town completed, along with some side content. In total you can look forward to over a dozen spanking encounters with over 30 variations of those encounters to try. I only have some bug testing to do before I can call it finished and ready to play.
I hope you're all as excited as I am about this. It's been a long time coming but I'm glad to be back and have something to show off for you all soon. I'll make another update tomorrow regardless if the release is ready by then or not. I'll see you all then.
