I wasn't entirely sure how I planned to make this set. I recently listened ot a podcast on the history of witches and it made this concept tricky. I went for the classics obviously. Apparently witches have been around since Ancient Eygpt though, so there are a lot of ways to represent them and this could be a whole series. As I began modeling, I suddenly realized I have no idea how to characterize a witch in poses. I had to think about what are actions that witches do that wouldn't just make this a series of poses, but in a witch outfit. How could I do this look naked and still convey a witch. I debated making this set nude. It was easy to add and interact with some props. A cauldron and a broom. Though I feel like I need a longer broom. I want to make a broom one day, so I'll need to make note of making a very tall broom. I can't decide if witches were just shorter or brooms were once taller, but considering the fiction in it, I assume it's all made up. As far as witch caricatures, I remembered witches hunched over a cackling from when my mother use to tease my brother and I about being a witch. I did one cackling photo. I need to work on my cackling face. It looks like fun laughing instead of menacing. I also came up with a series of spell casting looks.
Thanks for the challenge everyone! I can't decide what to do next, and I like it when you all come up with something. I'll narrow down some ideas, but if you ever have any feel free to inbox them!
I also realize that I may add these to my website for people to buy. I know I've promised to add new sets for a while. I'm embarassed I'm so behind on so much. I might hire an assistant, but then it might take longer to teach the assistant everything than do it myself.
