Angstadt Arms MDP-9: MP5 Meets AR15 (ad-free)

Angstadt Arms has recently released their MDP-9 carbine, an AR-type lower coupled with a roller-delayed blowback upper assembly. This is the same operating system as the much-lauded MP5, and Angstadt version of the design is remarkably light, handy, and simple. It is made specifically for Glock magazines, and is available in pistol and SBR configurations (the one in today's video is an SBR). With a just-under-6" barrel and side folding stock, it makes for a very compact package. I really like the weight, size, and simplicity, but I wish it came with a better trigger and ambidextrous safety. There are technically better magazines out there, but I do understand that the Glock wins on the basis of ubiquity.

Have a look at how the MDP-9 works today, and then stick around for tomorrow's video, where I will take it out to the range to compare on the clock against an H&K SP-5!

Funny how American technology that started before or at the end of WW1 and still find it viable today. luv this stuff. I refer of course to the M1911 series of pistols and the Browning 50 caliber M2HB

rather with longer barrel/handguard. that's sbr stateside right? with 5pointchange barrel people here would go roni hera whatever box throw a pistol in it (free part just have to own pistol here) but with longer glock models kind of same OAL and burn time. of course no roller delayed. that screw walk out of the charging handle would make me nervous. romm for better the thing right there.

Honest Outlaw called his Angstadt Arms MDP-9 a "dumpster fire". It will be interesting to see how Ian's experience compares. However, the Angstadt is pretty pricey, so I ended up passing on it and going with the Grand Power Stribog.

Nice gun, not inexpensive, but what is these days. I will be watching tomorrow. How is the HaloSun sight to use? I find my Vortex Crossfire difficult to use on my AR-57 with the 2 MOA dot unless I crank up the intensity of the dot. I have since replaced it with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 scope. It would be interesting to see if an aftermarket 3lb trigger cartridge would work in the gun to make it better. It will be fun to see how this compares to the roller delay standard, the MP-5/SP-5.
