The crucifixion of Angharada

Driving home from work, I noticed a huge pile of stacked trees in a parking lot.
Incidentally, I was shooting with Angharada over the next two days, so I wanted to include this location.

Because of the direction of the pile, we decided to shoot at this early in the morning, as the clear sunlight would streak the model from the side and cast long shadows.

But when I picked her up at her hotel and we drove to the location, lo and behold, seven logging trucks, and 12-14 guys and their machines were all parked and working in front of the wood pile, so that wasn't about to happen as planned.

We parked, walked around, and decided to shoot a quick set on the backside in the mostly slight overhead light, which I’d normally not be interested in, all while the loggers were busy on the other side.
But it was either that or no shoot at all.
I’m happy we did it.

Not a drone, it was shot horizontally (she’s standing ;)

Excellent work. What drone did you use for this shot?

Eric Adeleye

I sure have and it all depends on the place. It happened a lot in Spain as nudity is (generally) legal in which case we just do it unless there are kids - or people who would take offense - around. In places where it’s not legal or frowned upon we’d plan it early morning. Once we are working if someone shows up we’ll gauge the situation and likely finish the set so we get the shots, and then evaporate. I have no interest In offending anyone, and likewise getting arrested. I usually have a “who got here first” morality: if it was me, they can go elsewhere, if it was them I might ask politely if I don’t have other options, but I won’t intrude without permission. In the case above they were running all sorts of machine so physical danger was an issue, being seen less so.

While it is obvious that neither of you felt comfortable shooting in front of strangers, have you ever had a case where the model didn't care about bystanders and wanted to go ahead with the shoot? What would your advise be in that case?
