- to pick up items now you have to place your crosshair on the item and press "E", just being around it doesn't work anymore.
- added items highlight ( while testing I found it really hard to find any items so now if you are close to any items they will be highlighted, this happens through walls as well)(there will be a setting to turn this on/off)
- changed player jumping gravity
- added 3 save slots you can use to play the singleplayer, as well as 3 gamemodes to choose from:
Exploration:
- exploration mode will have entities disabled, there will be no hunger/thirst and you will have infinite stamina, after selecting the exploration mode there will be a menu showing up asking you in what level you want to be spawned. This will make scenarios where you want to see something or take a picture of a specific place a lot easier. The HUD will be enabled by default but you can always disable it in the inventory tab.
Normal:
- the normal way this game is supposed to be played, you die and you can choose to respawn from the last safe room or to restart the level completely. There are entities and you have to eat/drink and more info about how you complete the demo will come in the following weeks.
HARDCORE
- The hardest way to play this game, no difference than the normal gamemode, except that once you die, you are OUT. There will be a special achievement you will get once you complete this and if you complete the game on hardcore and post a story/tweet it and tag me with the picture I will repost. (you will also feel extra fulfilled because it will be EXTREMELY HARD so most of you guys will probably give up on it). I will also make a series probably trying to finish the game on hardcore on youtube, I think that would be fun
Save system
- FINALLY after many hours spent, I managed to make all the settings save between sessions/levels. Note for the developers: This took so much because Infinitum uses 3 types of settings the player can configure to obtain the best performance for their own computer: the normal settings unreal engine offers through "get game user settings" node, direct changes to the player camera through post processing effects (to change the lighting type from lumen to screen space, lumen final gather, bloom and exposure, etc.) and also console commands to configure anti aliasing resolution and anti aliasing mode which can increase the performance significantly with only minor visual changes.
- had too many problems with saving things, I had to rebuild half of the systems(inventory, item pickups, etc.) for it to work and will probably have to remake them again when I will fix the bugs in multiplayer but now you can save your items through levels and in safe rooms
- to save your game, you will have to find one of the safe rooms, which is currently getting spawned every 10 rooms in every direction in every level, this is the only way you will be able to save your progress so make sure you get to one of those safe rooms before you quit the game otherwise your progress will be lost in the backrooms and we all know you can't find things that are lost in the backrooms. When your game saves, you will see a pop-up text in the next side of the screen if you have the HUD turned on.
**I did not test enough with the save system so there might be bugs, please record your gameplay and show me if any bugs occur**
- small changes made to the pause menu( added options to restart the level and changed the layout and design a little)
- changed the design of "you died" screen and added the option to load from save room or restart level
Main Menu:
- shadows at night are more soft now
- focus distance changes to the character tab camera
Level 0:
- added one type of safe room
Level 2:
- Scratchers are now roaming around the level so goodluck with that
- Also now they can see you from a mile away
- to balance things out, the rooms with the exits spawn faster
Level 37 "Poolrooms":
- changed water colour in deep places (it's not dark green anymore)
- changed the textures to look more realistic, if you take any nice pictures make sure to leave them in discord media's channel
- doubled the night speed (night is 2x shorter now)
- made changes to the day-night cycle to be more smooth, now the light won't suddenly disappear at night but will slowly decrease intensity, same thing with daybreak
Fixed Bugs:
- Many bugs with saving/loading the settings, as well as the menu in general so if you find any please tell me, I won't bother writing all of them here because this is already an extremely long post
- fixed bug where scratcher could spawn kill you
