Hello everyone! June has been a super busy month for me, but I managed to go to two conventions! I'm jealous of my friends who are currently in LA at Anime Expo, but alas I cannot make it to every con, especially with my full-time job and side gigs ;__;
At the beginning of the month, I went to Colossalcon in Ohio and boy was it just as crazy as last year. I didn't have a specific lineup because I wanted to enjoy my time relaxing from work, but ended up spending most of the con running around, shooting, or assisting with friends' shoots haha. I don't recommend doing that if you want to have a fun time. On Friday, I did a Mt. Lady swimsuit cosplay, and I'm actually proud of how my mask and horns turned out!

I was scared of the horns falling off because I hot glue gunned them to duck clips. If you want to know how I made them (in case you guys are planning to make any head pieces), then for the horns, I just used this tutorial by attaching the foam pieces with contact cement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKC1fcusTyo&t=231s
Then I hot glue gunned the horns to the clips I bought. I love using metal dollar store duck clips to hold up hair/head pieces because they're bendable to the shape you need, sturdy, and hold up really well in wigs.

For the mask, I just cut out the mask's shape from a sheet of foam, painted it purple, and attached elastic by sewing it tightly to the edge, then painting part of it purple to match the rest of the mask. I'm probably going to remake it out of worbla though, since the painted foam gets crease masks despite priming it.

On Saturday, I basically bullshitted an Ochaco swimsuit cosplay haha. I had the wig, drew on blush marks with my makeup, and added some pink bows to my black bikini like her hero suit's colour scheme. A lot of people still recognized the character though, and I managed to get a few shoots with her.

On Sunday, we woke up, packed, and I had to leave earlier because I had work the next morning, so I didn't get to shoot in the awesome arcades ): If you're planning on coming here next year, be prepared for one heck of a party con. I mean, it depends on who you're with, but I felt way too poor to be in a gorgeous resort like this LOL. There was constant parties at the hotel, huge villa parties, and a massive indoor and outdoor water park.
There was also lot of new friends, working with new photographers, saving a baby bird who fell out of a nest (I hope he's still alive), dancing all night, and sipping frozen drinks outside in the warm weather (while Canada was still cold). It felt more like a resort in Cuba than Ohio haha. I definitely recommend going to a few American cons if you are a Canadian for the exposure and tons of amazing new people to meet.
Mid-June I went to YetiCon for the fourth year in a row! It's still an extremely fun con, but I feel like this year wasn't as good as the epic first year. The rave was okay (it used to be in a WAY better venue), but I made lots of new friends, and we still had access to the mountain coaster, zip lining, and other fun activities. The dealer's room also had more vendors and was much better than the previous years, and the hotels are pretty easy to book and super convenient. UNFORTUNATELY the weather kinda ruined the con for me, but the con itself was still good. This was the first year I didn't get to swim outside cause of the rain and cold, and I gave up on cosplaying Mt. Lady on the last day. Fortunately I managed to get a few shots of my Lucy cosplay on the Friday of the con! We had a whole Fairy Tail group :D

Overall both cons were pretty good! If you're looking for more of a crazy party con with an emphasis on water parks, then Colossalcon is worth checking out! If you're more into a chill con with lots of adventure and beautiful scenery for shoots, then YetiCon is my favorite Canadian con! My biggest tip would definitely be to get a hotel at the convention or right next to it. It'll save you so much money, time, and stress when you don't need to Uber or find parking everytime you need to change or rest.
