Concept Art of the Girls

I was looking through some older pieces today and i came across these little collages of some of the concepts for when i was designing the girls, and i realized i never shared these!

i figured some of you might find them interesting~
so here's a bit more info on it if you're curious!:

Flo was originally going to be a bit more stereotypically the "Nerd" of the group. it's very clear to me i was trying to come up with just an anime loving nerd girl to flesh out the group a bit, but i'm very glad i went with a "cooler" look for her.

The left-most design with a BIG coat was a concept i had in mind, where her physique would be a bit of a mystery! that way i could flesh her out a bit more before i decided.

she's also the girl who's name i played around with the MOST, as you can see by the list on her side of name candidates.

Community-Favourite Jenny, however, was much more straight forward! I had her general vibe down before i even started drawing her! i knew i wanted her REALLY tall and with a big teeth. She was, from the start, going to be the odd ball of the group. the "quirky" one, if you will! She turned out a lot tamer and down to Earth than i had originally envisioned her, which i think suits the general vibe of my stories a lot better!

and finally, our short queen Monica (Mimi) was going to be WAY more of a bad bitch. i'm talking MEAN Girl kinda bad, y'know? Like, you DON'T wanna mess with her. i made her whole initial design (on the left) with that in mind, but ultimately, i decided to make her a far more upstanding lady! she's still a big grump (out-grumping Magna, if you can believe it), but i feel like you can actually talk things out with her, instead of getting instantly kicked in the face when approaching her.
