Quick Update - Fixed Bowing On Base Tiles

Good morning!

Just a quick fix today. Some printers can't bridge over the female connectors of the tiles that well. When that bridge sags, it puts pressure on the top of the male connectors, causing the tiles to bow concavely.

I've taken a layer off the top of all bases and wall connectors' male prongs, and the issue seems to be resolved!

If you don't have issues with the tiles bowing upwards, you can ignore this update. Otherwise, feel free to download the updated files from the Store or Commercial Files post!

Can confirm they are better now. Now they start bending with like 7 bases instead of 4. Also tolerances are pretty tight.

Can we speak via DM? I'd like to see if we can get this issue fixed for you. Whether that's just changing some settings, or creating a new version of the tile with lower tolerances

Ian Kolb

I've noticed with the 2x2 bases that the tolerance is really low making it hard to snap the bases together easy.

I did a torture test with A1 to print 9 2x2 bases with 121% speed, to see if maybe input shaping was making impact. All 9 bases turned out good. They are much less bowed than before. I have put all 9 2x2 tiles next to each other in big line and they are still bowing. Also the connections are super tight. This is however due to printer, my A1 always had bigger inner diameter precision, for this I have also printed another 9 batch of 2x2 tiles with xy-hole-contour-compensation set to -0.05 and this resulted in much better fit as the connections were less tight, but still strong enough to hold everything. This still bowed a little bit so problem is in different setting. On my prusa mini I have printed set of 2x2 base and they are perfect! Can send you a pictures if you are interested, but I cant sent pictures over patreon, if you have prefered way of sending pictures send me a message.

Understood! Let us know if you run into the same issue with these new ones

Ian Kolb

This is with the older ones. The new ones I have downloaded today and printing them now, to see if it helped :)

Oriles Elkar

Is this with the new tiles we just uploaded to the Store page and Commercial post this morning, or with the older ones?

Ian Kolb

Yes, I was wandering if it can be fixed. Just printed on my Bambu A1 and it bowed upon connecting. Printed also on Prusa Mini and the bowing is not as visible.

Oriles Elkar

Gotcha, so maybe that gap was just a bit too ambitious for us to think most printers would bridge over 😅 Either way, the issue should be resolved! If the new files don't work for you, and they still bow upwards, just let us know and we can get it fixed 👍

Ian Kolb

It's not just the older printers! With my Bambu Lab P1S it also happens!
