I have to come to Magnus' defense. 17000 people are not that many if you take his age into account. If he is 400 years old, that means he averaged approximately 4 people per year. In 1x04 Hodge mentioned that Magnus did not shy away from the hedonistic part of life and Alec's dad mentioned in 1x13 that even by Warlock standards Magnus was considered a lothario. In 1x12 he mentioned at least two serious relationships, one of which was with Camille. If you do the math, 17000 is not that many for a lifespan of 400 years. I am so thrilled for Malec. Magnus already thinks that Alec is different and that it is a good thing.
