Walt faces his biggest struggle yet, a fly.

Great tidbit!

Some people really consider solid character moments a waste of time, which I kind of get because this show does typically keep the plot moving. On the other hand, this show so clearly has the characters driving the plot so an episode like this really cooks (heh!)

The fly was CGI yes! The only remarkable thing about it was that they had to make the wings more reflective than real life to make it obvious on screen!

There are *lots* of essays and articles about this episode online, if you're interested. It's on a lot of "Top TV Episodes of the Decade"-type lists, but those who dissented really, *really* hated it (they argued that nothing happened, it didn't further the story, and it was a waste of time). I think it's a terrific episode and that it does represent Walt attempting to kill the guilt he feels for what he's done, especially what he's done to Jane, but also to his family - I think this is borne out by the dialogue, especially Walt's attempt to look back and determine what would have been the best time to die (enough money to pay for the treatments and to support his family in the future, *after* Holly was born, so he could meet her, but *before* Skyler found out what he was doing) and him coming very close to admitting his culpability in Jane's death. I'm sure you'll hear more from other fans on this episode. To me it felt like a two-person production of Moby Dick, except Ahab doesn't get to die in the end -- doesn't get an end to his suffering -- he has to live with his failure to conquer his white whale. In fact, his guilt is inescapable - hence the fly at the end.
