132 - Macbeth in Canada: Slings and Arrows, Season Two [feat. Graham Techler]

Graham Techler (Tooning Out the News, Fairview) joins the lads for another cursed production of Macbeth as they return to both the New Burbage Theatre Festival and the second season of the hit AcornTV Canadian dramedy: Slings and Arrows. Topics include the curse of The Scottish Play, the showrunners’ dedication to an authentic portrayal of a life in the theater, and the importance of doing your taxes in a world teetering on the edge of a youthquake.

It's not '90s advertisements. It IS very Y2K. Especially if you look up, like, the original ads for Crocs, or Playstation ads, or something like that

Look up Annalee Dolls and witness our collective sleep paralysis demons.

I love this show so much. It perfectly encapsulates all the wonderfulness and chaos of theatrical things. I didn’t watch it For listening this time right now I want to because you reminded me of some parts I forgot about.

Not a Canadian, but I lived in Buffalo NY for a long time and I'm a huge hockey fan. I _love_ the sheer bafflement about hockey from 2/3 of the hosts.

AJ where are the doll factory child hospital pics plz

I'm curious if anyone has actually run into someone that still actively believes in the no whistling superstition. I've only ever heard about it when talking about theatre superstitions, and during rigging/flyrail training. But I've never run across any person or space that still actively believed it like they do Macbeth

Have y’all seen Party Down? Reminds me of this show in some ways: the time period and all the characters being actors, etc.

Canadian sounding off as requested. As mentioned above, jersey is totally acceptable nowadays, because they aren't literally sweaters anymore (they were until more recently than one might expect). My favourite part of Brian being baffled by a team being called the Canadiens is that there is ALSO a team called the Canucks. Two of the seven Canadian teams are essentially called The (City) People From Canada.

You can’t keep talking about Godspell without giving us a Godspell episode.

I subscribe to the 10 dollar tier on purpose! 🫡

Go Stars

As a hockey player they are called jerseys by hockey players lol. No one would look at you weird for saying sweater though

Elias

Hell yeah. Go PWHL!

By Tove!

unfortunately I've only gotten into hockey as of the founding of the PWHL (go Minnesota) and was born and raised in Michigan, but my father is Canadian and I'm a dualy so I'm sounding off 🫡

Haven't even started the ep yet, still trying to get over the way Josh is looking at AJ in that picture! Lordy!
