help us build the last episode of 2022
Added 2022-11-30 19:02:20 +0000 UTCHey everyone, Josh here. For our final episode of the year (12/28), I'm hoping to put together a year in review clip show where we play back some of the best moments from TWOAPW in 2022, mixed in with listener feedback.
This is where you come in. We forget most of what we say right after recording. You, on the other hand, likely have some favorite moments, especially if you've been listening for a while. And we'd love to hear from you about it. So, two things:
- If you're up for it, leave a comment on this post about your favorite TWOAPW moment(s) this year, which episode(s) the moment(s) came from, and the timestamp if you're feeling especially helpful.
- I've set up a listener hotline at (347) 593-8175 so you can tell us in your own words about your favorite moment, your favorite episode, or just what the show has meant for you overall this year. This number goes straight to voice mail, so have your story ready when you call. This is your chance to appear on the show: we may use your voicemail as part of this episode!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Poll for engagement: what did you do when you saw this post?

Had a ton of fun making that one. It sampled the last part of a fantastic song called Gallup, New Mexico by J. J. Light

2022-12-15 08:13:23 +0000 UTCThe new Mexico man transformation into Texas man horror sequence is one of my and my partner's absolute favorites.

2022-12-14 20:59:04 +0000 UTCOf course the Goku bit (was that even this year? Is time real?), the numerous CS Lewis names was very funny as well. Also any reference to a certain video game being too dark always crack me up.

2022-12-14 13:26:55 +0000 UTCThe ad in (I think) This Present Darkness, about the evil biBAL. It's SO funny and genuinely horrific.

2022-12-13 08:49:10 +0000 UTCIn a Gadda Da Whit at the 34 minute mark, Josh sums up my exact experience of listening to Whit's Endless Summer. What makes AiO difficult to revisit is realizing what extreme ideas and relationships Odyssey treats as perfectly normal. You start to realize just what kind of shit Odyssey buried deep inside of you that has to be reprocessed and overcome

2022-12-12 04:46:09 +0000 UTCThe Goku is so full and round bits from The Studio 60 and 1776 episodes are great. Also when Richard Maxwell is a pedophile in the episodes where Blackgaard shows up and Josh says "Put him in jail, put him under the jail". Somewhere in the first half of that ep.

2022-12-09 01:56:50 +0000 UTCLog Off, John from the 1776 episode was actually the first version of that song, or indeed any song from that musical I'd ever heard. I started listening to the original Broadway recording obsessively and it ended up topping my Spotify Wrapped right along side this show. Thank you for making me think about Goku every time I listen to my new favorite musical!

2022-12-09 01:09:12 +0000 UTCMy girlfriend and I favorite moments were in the heavy rain episode, AJ's Norman Jaden impression is just too good along with Brian's bit as David Cage. We being two very queer people constantly quote " What are you? Some kind of F*gg*t? Are you a woman with a vagina? I think less of you" I recommend this episode to basically all of my friends because the bits are just gold.

2022-12-08 08:32:44 +0000 UTCevery time brian goes on a verbal rampage in the minions episode (with josh hilariously siding with him against aj)

2022-12-07 02:21:59 +0000 UTCMy favorite moments are any time AJ is clearly building up to some sort of terrible bit, the others are obviously not having it, and AJ just gleefully plows ahead anyway.

2022-12-03 02:36:35 +0000 UTCWell now I have a new one since I finished the adventures in modesty episode. Where April says I guess I should wear a trash bag around 2:09

2022-12-02 23:12:32 +0000 UTCI laughed so hard when Josh said "my school was not only all-white, it was "all-Dutch." That is exactly how living in West Michigan is. I love the no-no door. Nothing quite captures the "you fucked up once and will never be seen again" energy of evangelical Christians like the no-no door. As someone who grew up thinking Whit was just the adult who was always right, it's so refreshing to hear you all trash him for being the pedophilic dick that he is. Fuck John Avery Whittaker. I really love all the theater episodes because I have no history or appreciation of musical theatre, and you all make me want to experience more of it. I definitely watched Moulin Rouge for the first time because of you all. Did ya know that the Barkley Family did a rendition of It's a Wonderful Life?

2022-12-02 22:20:04 +0000 UTCToo many good moments that its hard to even remember the specifics! But, the first time "he whhaaaat" came up. I can't remember what episode that was at all though I am so unhelpful 😬 Also maybe selfish but when we were all talking about how hot Michael W Smith was - solid gold Josh...dare I say solid cross of gold

2022-12-02 21:20:40 +0000 UTCHow bout a supercut of all the times Brian has been really derisive about Dutch people or whatever group he was on about that day? I can't remember if Sam D Eggy happened this year or not but I know that I literally offered AJ money for a copy of that clip and all he said was "Brian is editing now" and never brought it up again

2022-12-02 04:50:28 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed the "Weeping Like a Willow" song from the Dear Evan Hansen episode. I plan to audition for Urinetown this spring at a community theater, I just wish I had the sheet music to use for the singing part because I feel compelled to expose others to it. I also looked up Brendan Dalton and I can now say my family will be a Christmas In Middle-Earth family this year!

2022-12-01 16:08:44 +0000 UTCLoved the Adventures in modesty w/ April (the anecdotes, and the moments of humor idk if that works for clips) Also love the comedic midshow bits and am currently listening to your Manchurian candidate ep, enjoyed the Delawherisit bit

2022-12-01 01:40:06 +0000 UTCThe Goku inflation bit. Gets me everytime. For a more serious answer, I loved your episode on Disco Elysium. I came to the game in the early days of the pandemic while working in a pharmacy and each day I went into work it felt like walking into the mouth of a waiting beast. Disco Elysium is a beautiful experience that echoed the despair and melancholy I felt while providing a narrative and characters that allowed me to focus on that for a while. It really started me down a path that reshaped my ideology and politics when all I could see was the systems of our world actively failing us. Your closing thoughts on the game, that as grim as it can seem, ultimately embodies hope and the chance for something better really hits on what moved me so strongly. Being able to relive that in some small way while listening to your discussion was very meaningful to me. So, thank you.
Tom and Joe made me give them money to play their game and now I, Teagan, am anime sickos canon. I'm gonna live forever!
