2024-05-19 22:10:11 +0000 UTCIt's been a MILLION years since I watched the finale of HIMYM but... I didn't hate it? I think it made a lot of sense that she was dead given how he talks about her. He talks about her like she's not around anymore. Inthought it was fine.

2023-12-30 21:13:43 +0000 UTCI don't even remember the Ted yellowface from that episode, but I think the larger issue with shows like HIMYM re: Asian representation is just Asian erasure or absence of Asians as significant characters. NYC is 12% Asian and yet they basically don't exist in most television or movie depictions of New York.

At the time it felt like a cheap tease filtered through Ted's hopeless romantic lens, where now it feels like a father still grieving the death of the love of his life, and sharing that with his kids. One of the loves of his life, anyway...
