Design a Mystical Creature Contest

Hey peeps!

Over on the Patreon Discord, we were having fun talking about mystical creatures, their true form requirements, and other silly things!

Someone recommend we do a Patreon-only "Design a Mystical Creature" contest! The BEST mystical creature will get to be featured in a short story (I'll publish it here, and on my website). o.o

This will NOT include artwork of your creature, nor will it be in one of the mainline books.

Unlike the Kickstarter Bestiaries, you also WON'T PAY anything.

I charge a lot in the Kickstarter because I hire professional artists who do amazing work bringing the creatures to life. Those artists are AMAZING, but expensive. >.>

(I also try to get all Kickstarter-designed creatures into my books, somehow, as an extra thank you to those who supported the Kickstarter! This wasn't a typed-out benefit, it's just something I extra I do as a nod to them and their amazing contribution!)

So, this is just a FOR FUN creature! And you have to win the contest to get a little short story, so please read the rules!

Here are the rules!

#1 Comment down below with your creature idea, and include the following:

Name:

Appearance:

Birth:

Trial of Worth:

Tier:

Evocation:

Manipulation:

Argumentation:

Innate Abilities:

Aura:

True Form Requirement:

Lore/Inspiration:

#2 It has to fit into the lore of the world!

You can't have a creature stronger than the apoch dragon, or something that can eat the moon. It has to fit into the world of the Frith Chronicles!

#3 It has to be PG or at THE WORST, PG-13--no lewd or bizarre adult-only creatures. o.o

I think this is self-explanatory...

#4 Even if you DON'T make a creature, go through and upvote the ones you do like! (Everyone should vote! Upvote as many as you like!)

The top three highest rated comments will get a poll next week, and the one that wins in the poll will be the ultimate winner!

And that's it!

This is for fun, and I hope you all enjoy it! <3

**Name:** Bookwyrm **Tier:** 4 **Appearance:** Wingless, limbless dragon with a leather hide and an underbelly made of paper; book in place of a face it uses to communicate, unreadable to all except arcanist; can collapse into a pile of books, similar to a relickeeper collapsing into a heap of trash; empty rectangular notches in back, which increase in number as it grows, starting with two, in which books may be placed (spikes) to boost its power; pointed tail with a quill that writes near endlessly; has a fragmented knowledge base of the books that caused its birth **Evocation:** black ink **Manipulation:** memory/cognitive function **Augmentation:** On self: better focus, on others: emotions **ToW:** bring the wyrm a new addition to the genre/medium of books it formed from, written by the prospective arcanist **Innate Abilities:** arcanist can “read” the book on the front of the dragon’s head, which displays its thoughts; better memory **Birth:** Fable; born when a large amount of books of the same variety are damaged beyond use in a major disaster **Aura:** Brainstorm aura - people present in this aura have sharpened critical thinking skills and more inclination towards academic pursuits and gaining knowledge; best suited to an arcanist who can inspire people to pursue knowledge **True form requirement:** complete the wyrm’s understanding of its subject by filling the notches on its back with books about the lost information **True form appearance:** books on back become more spike-like; grows multiple, hydra-like heads, one for each book that triggered the true form; leather reinforced by substance that resembles wood but is more metallic in nature; retractable wings, with skeleton made of “wood” and book spines, and “skin” of paper **True form ability:** can read the emotions of anyone within a certain distance, even if not directly looking at them **Real world inspiration:** pun on the word “bookworm” **Imbuing:** “Clarity” - items imbued by a bookwyrm arcanist become more focused and orderly in their function. **In-world lore:** As it is extremely difficult to destroy most known information about a particular topic, the birth of a bookwyrm is regarded both as a tragedy and a blessing. Rulers who are bonded to them are often great scholars, whose lands contribute significantly to global academic and research advancements. made by H, Zerza, and I

Name: Vishnaga/ Vasuki Tier: 4 Appearance: A snake with highly prominent fangs and stinger at the tail. Birth: reproduction: progeny Vasukis make their lairs in swampy islands. they lay their eggs once every century but the strongest hatchling eats the others. Evocation: Vasuki and it's arcanust can release short bursts of poison breath which causes the victim to slowly lose their senses starting from their eye sight Augmentation: the arcanist can make any weapon poisonous and as long as it is able to get into blood of any one including the arcanist themselves death is almost inevitable Manipulation: Vasuki arcanists can draw poisons of others into themselves curing the others at the cost of risking themselves Innate ability: high poison resistance and incredibly potent venom comparable to king basilisk, however vasuki themselves are not immune to these venoms. They however also continue growing throughout their lives and can reach monstrous proportions although none in living memory has ever reached that size. Aura: Poison cloud: The arcanist and the eldrin summon clouds of their venom in an area that can kill most living things, the arcanist can also move the cloud at will but must remain stationary while the cloud is in action. True form: vasukis obtain their true form when they consume the heart of an hydra absorbing its strength to gain four more heads and become significantly larger. True form power: poison touch: any touch on the true form vasuki by anyone but the arcanist or someone immune to poison will die from extreme venom exposure. Trial of worth: vasuki's dance on the edge of destruction and death so to gain its trust one must show the recklessness to risk ones life. Only that will satisfy this mighty creature and convince it to bond with the hopeful arcanist. Real world inspiration: Vasuki is inspired from the great king of nagas in Hindu mythology, where the power of this serpent is compared to that of gods and is shown as a rival to Garuda
