Year-end Hangout time!

Usually I do these Q&A livestreams with "Inquirer" Patrons, but you know what - let's all get together for the last hangout of the year!

As always, you can leave questions in the comments below this post or as live in YouTube chat. You'll get detailed information on when the livestream starts in your timezone if you check the embedded YouTube stream.

See you then!

Hi Thomas, Please consider the following two projects Printed motor stator (only question here, what is the most efficient 3d printed inductor core possible, my best is an accurante SLA printed casing filled with coarse iron powder) And second, 3d printed wifi gaming headset (I have the electronics, you have the drivers (esp32 running a PulseAudio client + i2s chip + tpa6120 amp running off a single 18650 with a 3V to 24V DC to DC converter))

Thank you!

My wife, Dena, wants to know what streaming software you use? (Its fun that she's looking over my shoulder very interestedly :) )

Also - what are your thoughts on the E3D Toolchanger? It looks like an interesting concept, but do you see manufacturers other than E3D picking this up a lot?

I'd like to make a wish for 2021, since it's that time of year. It's nothing crazy like a 3D printable Covid vaccine, I promise. Would it be possible to announce the public live streams perhaps a day or so before they start either here on Patreon or as a Youtube announcement? I've missed the last couple of streams - not because I couldn't accomodate them, it would have been trivial to tune in. I just didn't know they were happening, and I didn't get the notification in time.

What are your opinions on the E3D Silicone Socks? They're meant to apparently last a long time, but I find they start coming to pieces within a week or two. Do you think they're even worth using?

Gary Singer

Thanks for the hint. I was already afraid of leaving it on the printers for a week but considered wood to be somewhat to interact with humidity. Will go into the sealed box afterwards.

Thomas Herrmann

How do you feel about cats as pets?

Joel Driver

At least as long as your filament is dry. I have some old wood filament lying around which is more or less unprintable already ... so your experience may change over time ;-).

I'd like to hear Tom's thoughts and a Try-Out on Klipper aus well!

I replaced the Ender 3 Pro's hotend with the Micro Swiss all metal hotend, but it seems that the heatbreak and nozzle do not mate up properly, and there's a gap... Do you know if the Micro Swiss nozzles have a longer thread than the normal "Mk8" nozzles that come by default? I'm fighting a leak of melted plastic from the top of the heatblock. There's no jam, just... a leak.

Jonathan Charnas

Not a question but I wanted to share a nice experience I had recently. I tried out wood filament for the first time. I had this in mind for roughly 5 years and I was impressed. You can print as good as you want usually and it always has this platicy feel. With wood it was really something different and it printed so nice even with a .4 nozzle. Really worth a try even when its less tough. :)

Also on a side note, I would love to hear your thoughts on Klipper and the more advanced stuff they are doing like Pressure Advance or Input Shaper

Roland Knall

Just a general question. Would you consider reviewing pure DIY concepts in the future? E.g. the Voron Switchwire?
