General content poll

Now that Part 3 of Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven is set to release in March, 2022, I get a few questions each week asking how many parts the game will have. My answer has always been, "I will write this game as long as people want me to continue it."

Based on the series so far, how many parts would you like to see? My goal is to produce each part within two years and not take as long as I did for Part 3.

So how do you see the series going? Do you think I should…

Continue on as long as you can, Im not ready for this amazing series to end

Although I could read new journeys of these characters for a very long time to come, I voted for 5 parts. No real reason for it, other than ZE1 had 5 parts and the risk of the creative well running dry.

All good points. I guess my thought is to think two or three years ahead. I don't think this could reasonably end at Part 4. I think Part 7 would be a great goal. That will take me another 8-10 years.

I very much agree with planning out your endings.

While it is designed for Patreon, I feel this group of people represents those who really care about the game. I can do similar polls for my social media followers, but I like to do these types of polls here first. You made a good suggestion though.

Leave it alone at 5 & come back to it in the future

of you were to make more than lets say 8 parts how long would they be as you can only strech it out so long and it is always best to have a ending so personly i think mabye 10 parts as it might get to long and bloted as a story also how long do you think they will be in terms of game play time as that is a facor as well

Hey, I hope everyone's doing well! This is just my input on the poll. Obviously, ending with part 4 wouldn't give nearly enough time to wrap everything up. :P Finishing on part 5 sounds ideal, but may leave a loose end or 2 and could possibly have a rushed ending. There's a lot of content left unexplored. Part 6 or 7 (maybe even 8) gives ample time to tie off everything and maybe even give a nice ambitious little epilogue based on choices. I feel as if this is the best option, although it will take several years -- nearly a decade -- with the expected time between parts. While I would never tire of the game, that also means countless years of writing for you to do and eventually either an abrupt ending, a lazy one, or even worse: no ending at all after just being tired and fed up with writing it. Even if none of those is likely, it's as others have said. Nothing lasts forever.

Six or seven parts is fine. You main focus should be planning an ending. If you don’t write with an intention to end, then when it eventually does it’s just not going to be the way people want. If you can figure out where your story is going then getting there is gonna be much much easier. One of the biggest mistakes even seasoned writers can make is writing without an ending in mind. Pore planning has ruined countless TV shows think Lost, Game of Thrones, Braking Bad and Dexter. All of these where fantastic shows however they all failed to end appropriately because they weren’t written with an ending in mind. Remember nothing lasts forever.

I really like the series especially how everything is starting to tie up with Julianne and Deter also, I would really love to have the chance to travel overseas and finally get all of this cleaned up once and for all. I feel all of it could be finished by part five or even maybe six or seven. Any further than that, it’s just dragging the series along unless you’re able to come up with extra ideas.

One question though, this poll is specifically designated for people who love the genre enough to pay on Patreon, might be a better option to ask in the Facebook group.

I don't really mind tbh.. as long as it's not rushed I'm happy.
