Dear Daniel Ek (A Love Song for Spotify) 😉

Hello Humans,

I’ve just recorded a new little number for you called Dear Daniel Ek (The Spotify Song)

It is a comedy song. If by comedy song you mean “singing about the Spotify boss who made his billions off musicians, then decided to invest in an AI arms company that builds drones and drops bombs.” haha.

Well... sometimes I have to laugh or I will just cry.

To be honest I sort of feel like the only power I have in this situation is to write a song, so that's what I've done.

The first video/song playthrough is up here , so you get the premiere! I might release it to the public but I'm looking for your feedback first - is it a bit much?

The whole thing is meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I don’t want to be moany about streaming (okay maybe just a little moan), but it still blows my mind that the man who pays us fractions of pennies per stream is now profiting off, well… actual explosions. Yuk.

Anyway, I’d love to hear what you think:

• Is it fair game to poke fun at this, or does anyone actually care?

• Is the song even any good? I don't do much cabaret these days so a little off my game.

• How do you feel about artists calling out these big tech/music giants? Should we be doing more to stand up against billionaires?

• Should I send Daniel a copy of the lyrics? 😂

• Should I release it to the public?
