Dearest Demons,
May I present you with a brand new song, entitled "Exit Plan".
It features piano, double bass and violin.
LYRICS
I think it’s time we talked about an exit plan
You clear the bank accounts and I’ll pack what I can
We’re sleeping under icicles that grow in time we borrow
And as they fall as sure as spite in cruelty and in sorrow
I think it’s time we talked about an exit plan
These thoughts are loud they fill my mouth with grains of sand
And words of comfort used to shield our minds from paths of danger
The fate of us is held inside the callous hands of strangers
See what they have done
And as the minutes melt and trickle through my fingers
A mighty wall of sound reduced down to a whimper
If I don’t find out who I am will anyone remember?
See what they have done

I don't really write songs like this so much anymore for Birdeatsbaby, but when a song comes into your head, you have to allow it to be written. This song came to me the moment I decided to dedicate more time to my writing. I sat at the piano and just begun to play... the notes just unravelled into a pattern and suddenly there was a fully fledged piano arrangement. I never get bored of following the trail of music to see where it leads me...
Let me know your thoughts. I think conceptually it's about feeling out-of-control, lost
and muted. In this song I am imagining giving up on my dream of doing music. I was really sad when I wrote it, and now that sadness has passed and I'm ready to write something new. Thank you for helping me to create. I don't know where this song will end up, perhaps it's just for you guys, right here, right now.
Next month I think we're going back to Birdeatsbaby songs with our upcoming single "Shift", but we'll keep everything fluid and see what happens!
Thank you all for being here. My photobox from the month is below...
