Hi lovely patrons,
So this was a bit of a surprise one. I promised a new song for you guys earlier this month and here it is.
More recently I've been going over older material since we finished the album, and this one popped up again.
The words were actually written by my manager and friend Simon Field. He's actually an incredible poet and I promised him along time ago we would put some of his words to music. If you listen to Esmerelda on the new album you can hear him reciting some of his own words - those lyrics were a collaboration.
He actually has no idea that I've done this so it's going to be nice seeing his reaction... I hope you guys like it too. It's very old-style BEB but that's no bad thing ;)
Simon thank you for always believing in this project, even when I couldn't. Here's to another 10 years of Birdeatsbaby madness. We couldn't have got this far without you.

Something I Borrow
LYRICS - Simon Field
MUSIC - Mishkin Fitzgerald
PRODUCTION - Garry Mitchell
Today’s not the day
Will I say that tomorrow?
Press down the pain
Planning for sorrow
Muster a smile
Feeling so hollow
This life isn’t mine
You don’t leave a note
There’s nothing to say
Your songs said it all
They pathed your own way
Colours now fade
Orange and marrow
This life isn’t mine
Just something I borrow
I’ll linger like dust
I’ll fall and I’ll fade
Fortress of bone
No shelter, no shade
No comfort at all
The lines that we swallowed
This life isn’t mine
Just something I borrow
Seven uttered loud the bitter book
Til seven lay bare in the barren brook
Hand the thunder's voice right back to God
For man knows not the road he trod
