Chimera Squad is ogre, Custodians, Muton Helmets, next mods brainstorming, and random ramblings from the 6th dimension

So i finished Chimera Squad, it was better than i expected, to be honest when i saw the first trailer i expected the worst, i expected non stop borderlands-like quirky comedy dialogue, which i would've despised, but playing the game out of the agents i encountered the only one that was like that was Terminal, so, i used Terminal for a grand total of two missions and then never again lol. Gameplay wise i enjoyed the game a lot, although it started to get pretty repetitive halfway through my playthrough, but i don't think that's anything inherently wrong with the mechanics, but more of a problem with the game not evenly spreading interesting enemies/encounters across the entire game, which i would assume it's more of a problem caused by the lack of budget.

I've seen a lot of people talk about how they would like this mechanic or that mechanic in Xcom 3 but frankly i would rather see Chimera Squad become it's own series separate from mainline Xcom, other than having Ayylmaos as your squadmates the only thing from Chimera Squad i'd like to see in Xcom 3 is the breach mechanic, but only for certain mission types, it would get extremely repetitive if it was on every mission. As for the turn order, i don't have any problems with this type of turn order, but i'd rather have the usual for Xcom.

Now, a lot of people have talked about what they would like to see ported from Chimera Squad to Xcom 2, now personally i'm not a porting kind of guy, at least not in the sense that i would just take the stuff from Chimera Squad and shove it in Xcom 2 as is, but i did get a lot of ideas and stuff that i would like to "borrow", mainly abilities and particle effects, one thing that immediately stood out and i wanted to use in Xcom 2 in some way, was Blue Blood's lance skill, not the skill itself mind you, but the particle effect and sound effect, i really like how that ability looks and sounds. I also thought abilities the progeny had were interesting, like the sorcerers who kill their own allies to heal themselves.

As for ideas, this ties on to my future mod brainstorming so i'll start with that, of course the first thing i'm doing now that Chimera Squad is finished, is finish the Custodian pack mod, but what's next? Well, i've said that i would like to make that Gatekeeper buff mod, so i'll probably make that, but next up, playing Chimera Squad made me want to start a new Xcom 2 campaign, not sure if i will or not but playing Chimera Squad reminded me of how much i hate fighting Codices, so one mod i might make will simply be called "Stop driving me insane Codex!" which essentially would be a nerf to Codices, my ideas right now would be to put their cloning ability on cooldown, remove the weapon reloading from their bomb, and maybe give them a separate ability where they force a single soldier to reload, maybe it could be tied to their gun, not sure.

With that said, as usual i also have ideas for new enemy mods, first of all, a Muton, the bad news is that it looks like it might not even be possible to replace Axiom with that masked/helmeted Muton i made, but like i said in my previous post if i couldn't replace Axiom, i would use some of those assets on making a new Muton enemy for WoTC, so i think that's going to be the first thing i do once i finish the previously mentioned mods, my idea for this Muton is as follows:

They would be called Muton Harriers, they'll be a tier 1 Muton but maybe also have a tier 3 enemy so they stick around for the campaign, their weapon will be a magnetic grenade launcher that fires airburst grenades, basically their weapon ignores cover. I also have an idea of making a variant, very very similar appearance wise, but they would have a magnetic assault rifle. My idea here is that these Mutons would be the ones accompanying Advent on their day to day business, while the Mutons we all know and love are the ones that the Elders send when they really need to get shit done. So these Mutons i want to make them look more "adventy".

Next up, for a long time i've had the idea of making a shotgun Advent, now of course, Custodians use shotguns, but they're very uh "different". Now, Shotgun Advent Troopers is something has been done over, and over, and over, and over, and over again, but hey, i haven't done it lmao. So, for a long time i've had two ideas for shotgun advent dudes, one, is a "riot control" advent with a shotgun, they weapon would fire a round that explodes into smoke or "tear gas" or something like that, and the second would be a more traditional offensive guy with a shotgun, the only problem is that for this second one i don't really know what their "gimmick" would be. That said, i had a bit of an epiphany just yesterday, after fighting those Cobras in Chimera Squad the thing that instantly crossed my mind was "damn, they look cool", they look especially cool to me because in all the ideas i've had for new snakes, i never imagined a helmet like that, so i was thinking on what type of snake i would make that looks similar to that, and then i realized, if i'm making an "adventy" Muton, why not do the same for a Snake, skip the Advent Shotgun trooper, and make an "Advent Shotgun Snake" instead?

So those are the ideas currently floating around my head, but my plans and/or ideas might change by the time i get there, right now i have to finish the Custodian pack and given that i have to make the reveal animations it'll still take some time, so by then my brain might have moved on to a different mod idea, the Muton harriers are definitively happening though.

Anyway, with all that said i'll be seeing you hopefully soon, so stay tuned for more.

Edit:

Oh, one thing that i forgot to mention, i've seen people bring up playable aliens/allies a lot, now, a long long long long time ago, when the playable aliens was being ported to WoTC, i asked if cosmetics could be made for them, and from what i understand at the time people couldn't get them to work. I have no idea if that was ever fixed, that said, personally what i would want to see is a mod that specifically makes a Muton squadmate, if someone made that, i might make cosmetics for it. But as you can see by my many ideas, i wouldn't have the time to actively make that mod myself or work on it.

Oh and another idea i had, Zephyr as an Advent enemy. Kickboxer/Muay Thai Advent, why not?
