Alternate/Old Passes of Artwork

Hey guys, Casey here!

I thought this week it’d be fun to show you guys a couple of old art mock-ups from both the Under the Veil and Limbo eras! Our artwork has really changed styles with every release, as it naturally will continue to do so, and it’s really fascinating to look back on older artwork that we started with when first developing covers. Here, you’ll see a version of the Under the Veil artwork that’s in full “color,” even though it’s digitally drawn. We had really wanted to capture the vibe of an old film photograph, which is why we ended up deciding to use a version that looked more black and white with a huge, magical pop of color. I did really like the colorful take of this version though! After that, we’ve got a couple slight alternates to the Limbo cover with the last sketch being the most different. The concepts explored in the Rapture and Think Again artwork were so fun, so we first thought about continuing those but ended up wanting to do something simpler for the album art. Either way, it’s so cool to see where ideas can start and eventually end up. We’ve had such a positive experience with our artists and I’m personally reeeally excited by the new art we’ve been inspired by lately musically. I can’t wait to keep exploring, working with more artists of all different kinds, and collaborating to find the coolest, most meaningful expressions we can muster.
