Hey all!
It's Augusto here, trying to survive the end of the year. Inspired by Martin's last post I delved into my old hard drives and managed to find the first demo I ever made for what ended up being Unraveled. This demo is very very old, I created it before I even got in to Berklee, at the time I think I was probably 16 years old. The session was created in September of 2016 😬 so the production is not the best jajaj. The idea for the song was pretty old when I presented it to the group, I had even started rehearsing the tune with my previous band back in Argentina before I came to Berklee but we never got to play it outside of the rehearsal room. Listening back to the demo you can tell that most of the structure and blueprint for the song was already there, but it got a much needed upgrade in terms of sound and production for the final version, as well as KC's beautiful vocal parts. Gonzalez added the heaviness with his chunky guitar parts and De Lima created the perfect atmosphere for the creepy dark sections with his sound design, which were pretty basic in my initial demo. It's crazy to think about how long that demo sat in my computer without a home and how it finally found its place in the Ok Goodnight discography. I guess its a good testament to keeping your ideas even if they don't seem to have the right place to flourish at the time, there might be a perfect moment for them in the future, and I think this is the case with Unraveled which ended up being elevated to infinity by my beautiful bandmates.
Hope all of you have a great end of the year and enjoy the holidays!
Much love,
Augusto
