Favorite drum moment đŸĨ

Hey all, its Augusto here hoping you are starting the week strong and with positive energy! đŸ’ĒđŸŧ

As I sit here at work bored out of my mind, looking at some early edits of some new drum playthroughs I recorded (👀), I was thinking it would be very cool to hear what some of your favorite drum moments in the Ok Goodnight catalog are. There are many intense drum sections and weird drum grooves all throughout our discography which I have put a lot of thought and work into and Id love to hear which of these resonate the most with you and why. This will also help me to choose which songs and parts to focus on for future playthroughs and breakdowns, so I make sure I focus on the things that interest you!

If you have any questions about any rhythmic or drum related topics that you feel I might be able to answer too feel free to drop them in the comments below and Ill make sure to get to them! 🙏đŸŧ

Hope all of you have a wonderful week and looking forward to reading your comments! 😁

Coming from listening to a lot of metal music, I definitely have a soft spot for double bass sections so past the chorus on The Snake, pretty much through the breakdowns at the end is always great when needing to get the heart going. The Falcon some damn groovy drum sections. I absolutely adore the fill between the intro, just before the lyrics kick in (and similarly the fills before the lyrics at the end of the song). After the second chorus, there's such a great vibe of dueling instrumentals because both the drums and guitar are going mad. Also, while probably not the most technical section, the whole sync between the instruments at 5:14 is so damn fun, absolute banger :D Also, the breakdowns on Free Fall and Think Again :)

Hi Stephen, thanks for the kind words! That break section you mention is definitely a cool rhythmic moment, I remember I wrote that drum part first and we wrote the riffs around it. The Mountain looks like a great contender for a drum breakdown đŸ—ģ

Ok Goodnight

The opening groove to The Mountain is definitely a crazy one 😂 A breakdown of The Journey is a great idea, will take that into account!

Ok Goodnight

Love this! Thanks for the kind words Michael!🙏

Ok Goodnight

The Mountain is my favorite Ok Goodnight track and the drums are instrumental (ha...haha) to my love for it. The break at 3:15-3:36, which feels purely feral in nature, makes me feel anger, fear, desperation, and then transitioning into the next couple of sections (My absolute favorite moments in the album) where it brings things back to earth a bit, before hitting blazing adrenaline again as I feel the characters have reached the end of each of their ropes, and into one of the most powerful moments punctuated so intensely by the complete lack of percussion, before EXPLODING into one of the most cathartic and hair-raising moments of any music I've ever listened to. The drum now trading between pulsing to the slower swing of the singing and then pummeling you with a roll of adrenaline in between before switching back to pulsing again. Just...so intense and beautiful. Sorry if that was a bit rambly. Just wanted to gush a bit I guess.

I loooove The Mountain, particularly the intensity of the opening. The Journey would be a cool breakdown or playthrough. Free Fall would be a fun playthrough to watch. 🤘đŸģ

Man there are too many to list! The Bear, The Snake, and The Journey instantly come to my mind as top favourites, followed quickly by The Drought and the middle section of The Mountain. And I would be remiss not to mention Rapture and Think Again. Those resonate the most with me for how hard they go. They accentuate every other aspect of the songs, like punctuation in a sentence. It's a little difficult to explain but the drums are just in that right spot to push everything over the top!
