I know it's not a riverwalk but my city of Tacoma Washington on the site of what used to be a smelter and refining plant built a smaller example of walkable urbanism called Point Ruston. It's on the waterfront of Puget Sound and has a movie theater, shops and restaurants under multi-story condos. It's surprisingly very successful and very popular amongst the locals and tourists. It may be worth checking out and looking into.

2022-01-02 12:55:40 +0000 UTCThey were talking about expanding Chicago’s river walk all the way to Chinatown. I don’t know where they are in the plans for that but, hopefully it happens soon.
