Quick Classical Mini - RIGS!
Added 2022-10-27 20:59:41 +0000 UTCIncludes the thrilling tale of Mike becoming a piano tuner. In other words, it's a can't-miss ep!
Exciting Addendum: I forgot this point: people with hearing loss tend to choose flawed playback systems that compensate for their missing frequencies, so don't take anyone's recommendations until you see their hearing charts! (That's a reasonable request of some guy you just met at the gym, right?)

Someday I'll do a classical mini about my visit to the anechoic chamber. Yes. Where they locked four of us in for 30 minutes. Sadly true. -- mjn

2022-11-02 01:29:24 +0000 UTCRegarding the "Exciting Addendum": I emphatically agree. I spent over a decade in the military. Between sleeping next to C-130s taking off, afterburner flyovers from F-15Is, 5.56 gunfire, and mortar shells, my hearing audiogram is a complete mess. On the positibve side, I've heard good things about advances in hearing protection for people in military service. I still love classical and have set up my system to address my particular needs. I realize that, and take it into account when my family is around.

2022-10-31 16:58:07 +0000 UTCI crawled out of my temperature-controlled anechoic chamber where I was hand-winding the drivers in my Klipsch Heritage La Scala speakers with pure gold-spun wire just to say: yay! classical mini!
