This is a video I wanted to put out since last year, and I wanted to crank it out as quickly as I could in case y'all have any pot lucks coming up. I've now given this dessert to at least 3 Christmas parties last week— it truly comes together in like 15 minutes!
There's a 90% chance that in my rush I left a typo or something in the vid so don't be shocked if I end up replacing it before it goes live on Festivus morning
If you keep corn syrup in your pantry, I do think it may be worth caramelizing your own sugar. It's not wildly difficult, and the fully homemade stuff makes strands of sugar that are ten times more impressive. I stuck with the Werthers gambit here to help get people interested who are too afraid of making their own caramel.
I'm not worried about any Frenchmen getting upset at this video because they're all probably offline licking their wounds after getting spanked on the national stage

So I tried making this for a Christmas party and it was a catastrophe. It was mainly my own fault for one bug reason. I mistook the werthers caramel for werthers chewy caramels. So it didn't set up into something that could hold its own shape. I tried to save it by putting it into a bundt pan, but that didn't save it. I ended up just piling it on a plate, hitting it with sprinkles and edible gold dust, and pretending it was my plan the whole time. It still tasted great and it was still the favorite dessert on the table, so I can't complain too much.
Tl;dr make sure you get the right werthers candy if you want the caramel to hold everything together.

Suggest putting the bullet about making your own caramel into the video description with an appropriate reference link, that will be helpful for the portion of your userbase that likes going the extra mile
