I‘m still trying to get to all your lovely messages today, but the Patreon app is acting up a bit. So I actually never know if my messages come through or not.
Anyway, I started this new piece today. I‘m enjoying the more zoomed-in view a lot after doing quite a few paintings with a broader scope. When I was a child I used to lie in the grass and watch grasshoppers all the time, so this scene is very dear to me. I hope you like it!
Here‘s a little insight into my process that I usually discard, but I kept it to show it to you. I start every illustration with a really loose, rough sketch. I use light, thick lines to map out the shapes. It looks like this:

And then I just add a layer on top, use a smaller brush and refine the lines.
