Fantasy AU sketches

This fantasy au is a sort of mix with the winter poll art. I tried to write down this small idea and as always it degenerated into obsession xD It’s quite a long read but I hope you enjoy it and like the story :)

Small recap of this art:

first picture is about their arranged marriage, while exchanging vows (a bit more on that below!). The other pictures are some clothing studies of Katsuki in Deku's tribe clothes (but of course he can't wear a shirt for dear life) and Deku's in more “appropriate” Barbarian clothes for traveling and attending the dragons with Kacchan.

Last picture shows Katsuki having his dragon's genes showing. He isn't a full shapeshifter but he can transform slightly, getting claws and fangies and a (totally not for horny purposes) long reptile tongue... I did not sketch anything related to it being in no one's butt nope you did not see that...

And now, little story time..

Izuku and Katsuki are from two separate tribes but they have known each other since they were kids, only meeting during summer when their tribes spent that time together in the mountains.

Deku is from a druids tribe that lives high up the mountains,  while Bakugou’s is a nomad barbarian tribe that moves back to the valley during winter when it gets too cold for them. During summer they stay in Deku’s village to rest and nourish their dragons where it’s less warm and where they can roam freely.

Their difference in culture and language made it a bit hard for them to always get along but during the years they managed to get to know one another and also secretly fall in love (because of course).

They are both in charge of leading their respective tribes. Deku is part of the small council that is designated to take decisions, and in general to guide their people. His dad being one of the highest druids had him being in succession and also be the youngest member since his dad disappeared. In Katsuki’s tribe, the chief is chosen by popular demand and after his mother, Katsuki is already the favorite as chief successor in his early 20s.

When their lands suddenly found themselves in a big conflict with some other kingdom they decided the best way to seal their tribe's union was through a contract of marriage, signed under the spell of Deku's tribe which assured that in case of betrayal a curse would be released on the people of whom did not respect it. The idea is given by Izuku and of course Katsuki accepts it, for the sake of his people (and his sorry gay ass). Even though they had only dreamed about this, the situation obviously doesn't make things easy and they don’t know yet if the other might ever actually fall in love or just be resigned to being in a loveless marriage forever.

The start is a bit rough and awkward, especially when it comes to communicating and finally being more into each other's spaces and experiencing and expressing affection. Katsuki is very direct and aggressive in a way, he is not new to physical touch especially around his friends. Even when it comes to a more private type of physicality he grew up in a very open and free spirit kind of community. But this also makes it harder for him to fully confront Deku, who seems to not catch any of his hints.

Deku mostly experienced affection privately in how he was raised, making him very oblivious when it comes to demonstrating and receiving affection from a partner. All he knows is what he saw in his home, which was his mother caring for him.

Public display of affection is not really a thing around his people and even when it comes to their wedding he stops Katsuki from kissing him on the lips in front of everyone, he wishes that to be something private and special if it has to happen (which you know it will). Instead he does what he considers the most affectionate gesture that he knows, touching their forehead together. But of course at first Katsuki thinks he is being rejected by the love of his life so he is extra grumpy and bitchy the following weeks resulting in getting on each other’s nerves until they finally give in and confront each other.

The ceremony is a bit out of the ordinary and even if it's a marriage of convenience they decide to mix both wedding traditions. In Deku's tribes they don't exchange anything physical but they value a great deal the promises they speak out loud. While in Katsuki's tribe they give one another something that they want the other to remember them by. He gives Deku's his sword and one of his necklaces hoping he will carry them with him.

This was long ahah I have a few comic pages sketched out for them finally confronting each other and I'd like to share them soon with you. I hope you liked this little idea! I just really enjoy the thought of Deku being a little innocent but mostly oblivious guy while Bakugou is consumed by his feelings and gets frustrated by not being that great either to show the other how much he cares. It’s a little angsty but everything will be alright :3
