New Sketch

Commissions are a little slower now, or at least there isn't too much pressure as the clients take around 2-3 days to answer, which luckily gives me some time to do personal work. It has been some time since an artwork of mine has "breathed", showing a vast landscape of large scale, and it somehow seemed to be the right thing. Making the floating star above the tower visually stand out against the clouds will be interesting, as the clouds behind it will have to be in blue shadows in order to make it stand out. No idea why exactly sunken cultures (in time or in water) have always fascinated me, but I like to pursue the things that fascinated me as a boy in my art. I've recently been thinking a lot about drawing dwarves, but we'll see. There are usually ideas like these in my head, seldom do they actually stay - they feel more like an unexpected but welcome visitor who leaves the next day, so we'll see wether that will be something. Ideas are a dime a dozen for me, it's actually drawing them that makes them worth it. For example, next week we'll go and see the new Willy Wonka movie, and I'm sure I'll have around 3-5 ideas for drawing just from that movie alone :) Seldom are these ideas really worth pursuing, but if you walk through life with your eyes closed, you'll never have ideas for artworks.
