Chapter 22: Sera Masumi’s Skill Card

Hearing the crisp mechanical sound ringing in his mind and seeing the translucent azure text appearing before his eyes, Kousuke Akikawa finally let out a sigh of relief.

'If the system is prompting that the task is complete, does that mean I won’t be convicted?’

‘I can understand a recovery card, but what’s the difference between a skill card and a trait card?’

As doubt arose in Kousuke Akikawa’s mind, the system promptly provided an explanation.

‘Since this skill card is permanent, there’s no need to save it for later.’

Kousuke Akikawa was curious to see what kind of skill he would draw.

‘A death-bringing elementary school student and a handsome detective, huh?’

Although Kousuke Akikawa didn’t know much about Detective Conan, he was at least aware that Conan’s true identity was Shinichi Kudo.

As for Sera Masumi, he wasn’t familiar with her.

Kousuke Akikawa quickly analyzed the woman in a single glance and came to a conclusion.

The woman walked up to him and introduced herself, confirming his suspicions.

"Nice to meet you, Akikawa-san. I’m Midori Kuriyama, a lawyer from the Kisaki law firm."

"I have been entrusted with escorting you to the Metropolitan Police Department to retrieve your personal belongings."

"Additionally, regarding matters like your mother’s inheritance and insurance claims, I can assist you if you choose to entrust them to me."

Kousuke Akikawa had initially wondered why a lawyer was needed just to retrieve his belongings.

But when she mentioned his mother’s inheritance, he realized that she must have already been briefed on his situation.

This meant she was either a lawyer affiliated with the police or an acquaintance of Conan and Sera Masumi.

If it was the former, there wasn’t much to worry about.

If it was the latter, however… there might be an underlying surveillance aspect to her presence.

"I see. Thank you for your help, Kuriyama-san."

Kousuke Akikawa put on a grateful expression and politely thanked her.

"In that case, let’s not waste any time. Shall we proceed with my discharge now?"
