I totally get that, some of the side effects can suck with concerta. Talking to your doctor is usually the best thing to do in these situations. Don't go and straight up ask for adderall but describe how effective you think the drug is and the side effects that are challenging you, and IMO you can even mention that you tried adderall without facing these side effects. Here are some of my experiences with my doc to encourage you to talk to them:
When I was only prescribed concerta, I told my doctor that I lost focus during the evening when I needed to study. I tried taking an extra one but that would prevent me from sleeping until 3 AM since it's an extended release drug. She gave me ritalin for those situations since she knew Methylphenidate was really effective for me.
I take breaks from concerta during summer months to reduce the long-term effects (this was suggested to me by my doctor, since taking it continuously can decrease the effectiveness of the drug long-term and can make you more dependent to it). After starting to take it again for the first time, I wasn't able to eat anything for days because concerta would kill my apetite (it's worse than that, I'm sure you know the feeling :P). She gave me the lowest dosage version and gradually increased it after a weekly "are you having any side effects" session. I was also asked if I wanted to try another drug but since I knew concerta was really effective for me I said I want to stick with concerta.
Hope your doctor can find you a solution!
ps: Getting in a procrastination loop was also something I experienced, but no drug could solve it alone. I went to therapy for that which was really helpful.

It helps me greatly with my symptoms of ADHD, but the side effects I have when I take Concerta are very concentrated and hard to control. I have taken Aderall and yes, I still get the major side effects, but they are more mild. More so the immediate release versus extended release.

why dont you like it? I've been using concerta and ritalin for the majority of my life and yes I have some minor side effects if I take a break from them but other than that they are life changing. Why do you specifically want aderall ?

Taking a break from the goofy content, I have a genuine question for the main 3 (Will, Kevin, Nigel): You guys talk a bit about ADHD and I'm genuinely curious - who actually is 'diagnosed' with it? And, how do you deal with it? I had a suspicion that I had ADHD and spent almost 6 months dealing with different doctors and psychiatrists before I got diagnosed with it. However, after getting diagnosed with it, I was prescribed with Concerta (Ritalin) which I don't like, and want to switch to Adderal but have a concern that doctors don't believe I actually have ADHD and if I ask to switch to Adderal, they'll just think that I'm trying to get 'the good stuff'.
Follow up question: How do you deal with finishing projects (if you have ADHD)? I'm a game developer and struggle a lot with finishing a game and can never push my self to finish it and end up trying to start something else. It ends up turning into a feedback loop that I can never get out of.
