Concerning the absence or presence of a "feeling" in the killings of middle aged couples:
I think what Urasawa was getting at here is that the killer from this episode, the business owner, expressed feeling and hesitation in the killing due to there being a connection between him and his victim. The people he was killing were family.
Now compare that to a hired assassin. Someone who is employed to kill a random middle aged couple would naturally have little or no "feeling" towards the killing as there was no real connection hence no hesitation in completing the act.
Of course it is a bit flimsy because, yes, the style of killing would be different between each hired assassin which should make it harder to put them all into the "no feeling" category, but I think the fact that they are ALL middle aged couple without children is enough to tie them together for Lunge.
Thanks for another great reaction and discussion!

16:22 It's actually incredibly common for serial killers to return to former crime scenes so they can relive the events in their mind (and the thrill of the risk of course). Tenma going back would only reinforce Lunge's belief that he's the killer.

People have a hard time taking into account that other characters in any fictional universe aren't following the main character's actions 24/7 like the audience. And besides, beyond of what Lunge thinks, as of now Tenma IS a fugitive and the alleged serial killer, you can't blame a detective for doing his job and trying to catch him.

Important:
Lunge is not dumb. People who say he is are missing the point so hard. They watch the show and somehow assume Lunge is omniscient and omnipresent. Some people's conceptions of "smart" is "someone who somehow knows stuff", or who "at least knows what I know". That makes 0 sense. Look at Lunge's context. In no world would a detective worth his salt not immediately suspect Tenma as the premier suspect. Johan literally orchestrates his murders to make Tenma look more and more like the murderer, and he leaves zero trace of his own.
The fact that Lunge, considered an extremely smart detective in the show, is still suspecting Tenma means Johan is doing his job amazingly. It's not that Lunge is dumb; it's a testament to Johan's cleverness.
The fact that Lunge is so interested in Tenma is because Tenma does not fit the typical archetype of a murderer, plus his supposed skill at not getting caught. He confuses him.
Smart people cannot invent information they don't have. Lunge has seen 0 proof of Johan's existence. It's quite ridiculous in fact that an 11-year-old killed 3 doctors with poisoned candy and did it again 9 years later. The show makes that clear in Lunge's disbelief that Johan exists.

With all 3 of them living together there is a really small chance getting Dark reactions by Lola, Melina and Milica while Lola going out of the room during discussions so she can't spoil. Unless Milica already watched Dark. Then all hope is lost :D
