They all seem to be all based on supposed shock value or surprise twists but almost none of them were very surprising to me.

Definitely agree that "leaving country music" is a weird and kinda lib choice, especially since that song is barely different from most Pop Country anyways. But major label Nashville Country artists get away with so much mealymouthed bullshit in the rare event that they say anything at all about the thinly-veiled bigotry in their market. Most of them know they can't say "racism is bad" because they'd lose a good chunk of their audience, so they keep quiet and take the checks. So it's refreshing for one of them to actually make a real statement, even if the statement is mildly cringe. Edit, because I also thought "What I'm saying on stage tonight is barely acceptable now" was an editorialized episode title, but no he literally said that lol
