You shouldn’t allow people like this to have a great influence in your life whether it’s family members, teachers or life long friends.
Majority of the time when you’re doing big things, people will either:
A) Project their failures onto you
B) Try and discourage you from going after it because your growth makes them uncomfortable
Regarding university,
University is a learning and networking institution
Not a place to fuck around, get drunk and waste your time and money.
So for those who’re attending university, don’t let people trick you into dumb stuff by peer pressuring you into taking part in things because of “uni experience”
It is good to listen to an expert for certain advice, but for your family and friends, I would suggest not asking or telling them about the situations that you want to decide on yourself.
If they provide feedback, whether you wanted them to or not, take their
advice
with a grain of salt and go with what you believe.
Gut level instincts can work well at times.
By making our own decisions, we become responsible so we no longer can blame anyone else for theirs’. We also learn to trust ourselves which can be very empowering.
Get clear about your values, needs, likes, dislikes, goals, etc.
Have the courage to go down the path of self discovery so that you can have your own opinions and make your own decisions.
There WILL be some bumps and bruises along the way…when you make a mistake, learn from it.
Trust your own intelligence. If you can’t trust yourself, then WHO ARE YOU?
Be somebody. Be your own person
