Prehistoric humans, as well as most lifeforms, tended towards protecting their own and fighting others where it gave them a survival advantage. Such is a key aspect of evolution, passing on the traits that best lead to survival and so on. People look through the lens of modern life at that idea with horror, but that's just nature, and being taken away from the artificial comforts of today's world would bring those natural instincts right back to the surface.

So people were very weary of this adaptation. Unfortunately it appears the quality of the first episode was just to hook you in because they already decreased the production value for the other episodes. The same strategy was applied with Season 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead.

You made a very good point about not wanting to survive in a world like that where everyone's lost their humanity. I couldn't agree more. It's scary how many people are willing to do whatever it takes to survive, it's why an apocalypse like that would turn out so awful. Too many people just thinking about themselves and not others. (yes, you're still just thinking about yourself if you're willing to kill innocent people to help your family survive because it's not just about you and your family, it's about rebuilding civilization which sadly isn't really feasible for a violent species like us in an apocalyptic scenario like that.

For instance, I can throw out the number $11million which is what The Legend Of Vox Machina made before it even released as the subject of the largest film and TV Kickstarter in history. On Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a 100% critic rating and 93% audience rating, rivaling Netflix's Arcane, the biggest show released at the time of its premiere. I could throw out tons of other ratings and statistics, including over 500million views on their YouTube channel, but like is that really what you're after? Because by all of your wording, it seems like you're trying REALLY hard to "Well, actually..." me and for what reason? If you doubt what I'm saying, literally go to youtube right now, type in The Last Of Us reaction or The Legend Of Vox Machina reaction and look how many results spring up. The algorithm doesn't lie, my dude. Neither do the numbers that HBO DOES release.

I’m sure you’ll get a lot of corrections about it, but Ellie was using ‘Veronica’ as a fake name because she was being held in a room and didn’t exactly know what these people wanted from her. So when Marlene called her Ellie, it wasn’t meant to be Ellie learning that’s her name. Rather she was surprised that Marlene knew that her name wasn’t Veronica AND that her name is actually Ellie.
