[DEVBLOG#04] Peek into VFE: Security

We have been hard at work at creating a new vanilla furniture expanded add-on. This time, we're focusing on security, element that is heavily missing from neolithic, medieval and spacer colonies due to majority of security being available in the industrial era.

With catapults and ballistas for medieval colonies and charge railguns for spacer colonies, we are trying to expand every aspect of the base security, finally allowing your pawns to remain undrafted when a raid occurs.

I don't know if its possible, but with the spotlights it would be really cool if they tracked enemies (or maybe a more advanced version does) kind of like turrets so the light followed them around.

I have a suggestion that may or may not be reasonable: spotlights! Something I always miss in my killboxes is lighting that makes sense for security

I really love this idea - and to the above point, if you do ever get a chance combat training would be really neat (sort of like the punching bag in VFE already). Some other mods do it, but not with the same aesthetic. Awesome!

There is no combat training planned just now - how the dummies work is they make enemies focus fire on them first, before attacking your colonists. What that means is they can be used as a distraction for your snipers to take aim. The artillery itself right now is a global range mortar (which can fire anywhere on the map). It fires a little bit faster and with more accuracy. We are also working on allowing it to fire across the world map, which means you will be able to give artillery support to your pawns during attacks on enemy bases.

Does that target dummy mean your adding in combat training of some kind or is it something else? And is that new artillery I see there? It will be interesting trying to balance that; I've played with many artillery mods that just end up making even 100 pawn raids absolutely trivial after installing 2 or 3. It's very difficult to make an upgrade to the mortar without becoming OP.
