Hi patrons!
I just got done with two weeks of working extra hours at the children's theater, covering for a coworker's well-deserved break. I was mostly still working from home. But theater classes are starting up again, so I also biked around SE Portland to distribute flyers for our new location on SE Foster Rd!
SE Foster got a bike lane a couple years ago, so it was a super-pleasant job to go up and down the street, dropping off flyers and chatting with folks in the shops. Also, I got to feel like a picture book protagonist.
Becky's day on SE Foster
First, Becky went to the Brazilian cafe. "Sure, you can drop off some flyers," said the barista. "Thanks! I'll have a cafe doce de leite," said Becky.
Then Becky went to the game shop. "We'll take some flyers," said the cashier. "Ooooh, puzzles!" said Becky.
Then she went to the toy store. "We're so glad you offer classes on the east side now," said the toy store owner. "I'm so glad you're next to a bagel place!" said Becky, whose tummy was grumbling from the ride.
Joking aside, it really rekindled my appreciation for bicycles as a way to run multiple errands that are too far apart to walk, but close enough that parking and reparking a car would be annoying.
This is further north, on SE Belmont St, but please appreciate the late afternoon view:

This one is from a photo I took on a bike ride a couple weeks ago. I haven't budgeted time to paint anything on-site in awhile. But I've found that when I feel tired or stuck on other comic-tasks, a watercolor building-postcard feels freeing and doable. So I've been working from photos a lot more.
...Off the subject, please enjoy this sketch inspired by the American-fashion-themed Met Gala, and a friend's tweet that "Garfield is Americana":
