Honestly really enjoyed this one. They did such a good job bringing it all together.

SEASON 2 RECAP SPECIAL 1 | JUJUTSU KAISEN SEASON 2 (FIRST TIME REACTION)

I think the rest of season 2 will be able to answer some of your remaining questions ☺️ Also I think the reason Geto wasn’t able to absorb Toji’s worm curse at first was because he stored the weapon he used against Gojo inside of it. I don’t know if you remember but the characteristic of that weapon was that it neutralises any curse technique it comes into contact with

I think you're overlooking a lot of the feelings Geto was going through during the flashback. He and Gojo were considered "the strongest" and they were arrogant about it. It's easy to be magnanimous about doing good for others when you're in that position. But Toji freakin wiped the floor with both of them and then *killed Riko* just as Geto was going to give her her freedom. They failed their mission, utterly. The wormy curse was the literal "hidden inventory", along with a bunch of other things that could also have that meaning. It was used by Toji but that doesn't mean it felt any sort of loyalty to him. And Geto almost absorbed it during the fight - whether he couldn't because it was bound to Toji or because he was interrupted by that nasty weapon that stop cursed techniques is unclear. But it was used to having a caretaker and maybe it sensed that Geto would treat it better, so it found him once Toji was gone. Only hours later, Gojo levels-up massively and manages to kill Toji without Geto's help, leaving Geto behind in many ways. They're no longer the dynamic duo and that further lowers Geto's self-esteem leaving him lonely and confused. He's haunted by the "monkeys" applauding for Riko's pointless death. By this point, he's actively searching for a legitimate reason/logical excuse to kill them all because he's still telling himself that death/murder needs to have a point to it. He can't just become a killer - he has to justify it. Haibara dies stupidly, sent on a mission that was just too much for him and Nanami to handle at their level. Yuki puts a thought in his head - curses will disappear entirely if somehow all average people either die off or turn into sorcerers. On top of that - Riko wasn't even all that important to Tengen, since another vessel was found very quickly, so she died for nothing. He finds those two little girls locked up and abused, on the verge of being killed for no fault of their own. He snaps. Once he's taken that one step, there is no going back. He dedicates the rest of his life to making the world a better place, one without any curses. That's his justification and he's sticking with it. But just think - Geto tells us how foul and disgusting it is to swallow a curse. By the end of the movie, we learn that he's absorbed maybe 6000 of them - 1000 set loose in Kyoto and Tokyo, plus nearly 5000 that he uses in the final battle with Yuta. 6000 curses that the other sorcerers didn't have to face and maybe die trying to exorcise. That's enough darkness and filth to drive anyone nearly insane but also, think about how many monkeys and sorcerers he saved in the process. To be fair, we don't know how many people he actually killed aside from his parents and the 112 in that village where he found the girls (oh, and the one dude who was giving him money but stopped). I have a theory that he was saying he was going to try to wipe out average humans, but deep down, he was simply taking all those curses off the playing field and waiting. Heck, he even warned the school about his plans, so they would be distracted but also...that gave them time to evacuate nearly all the normies. He was expecting Gojo to stop him, to save him from himself, and even to have mercy on those he's gathered as supporters. Geto had faith in Gojo all along. And we know that current-Gojo is trying to reform jujutsu society, probably so no one ever falls as hard as Geto did ever again.
