Quick(ish) Update Whilst Still Working On Things
Added 2025-05-31 18:17:07 +0000 UTCJust wanted to say I'm still here for those not really following along especially as I've not been super obvious on social media by not having announced the recent beta & preview builds from the past few months plus I know a fair number won't have been looking at the forum or vaguely keeping up with what's been done on the discord server along with the emails I get.
Currently I'm trying out a slightly different way of working on the builds as part of the fallout from some of the preview build issues from this year which I'll explain a bit more of that when I do my next proper update about the preview builds but that experiment basically didn't work.
The change is that I'm posting my dev builds to the forum for the beta testers wanting to test out specific issues or just wanting to run what I'm doing instead of using the more formal beta build process (that won't be going away) which is helping me to iron out some of the issues that have been plaguing the builds in a quicker manner now that other problems have been resolved which were getting in the way of working on things (aka juggling too many issues & not knowing where the problem was).
There's still a few more things I've got to work on before I then do a normal beta & then push out a new preview build for which I'll then try to do a more complete summary of what's been going on for the past few months & my further rambling thoughts about things & all of that.

The preview builds don't expire so that should never be happening & a preview build can be installed over a beta build to de-beta it seeing as preview & beta builds are essentially the same. The beta builds expire as otherwise I'd have beta testers on builds that are not helpful for me. I get that for those dipping in & out on beta testing that it's not the best experience but I also have a large number of beta testers that don't seem to do anything & will be looking at purging them again this year. I see the beta expiry only being a potential problem when it's been a while between builds & then I flag a new one but the existing beta shouldn't be reporting expiry until that happens in case of it being a few months for me to then provide something newer. Unless that's what you're saying is happening? To ease the issues with beta build expiry I even emailed out a reminder a few months back to all of the beta testers directly (along with it being noted in the information sent out when a beta tester is added) what needs to be configured in the install so there is more of a grace period when a new beta appears vs the prior ones hard entering into the expiry state. I get the beta expiry sucks but it's there to save me getting reports from builds that have been replaced by something newer which is the exact issue I see with the preview builds & still getting crash reports in from ones that have long since been replaced with fixes for what's triggering the crash to occur so I stand by keeping an expiry in place for the beta builds.

2025-06-02 07:22:00 +0000 UTCHey dro! Thanks for keeping us up-to-date. I have only request at this time, is there any way you can turn the time-limiting off of your builds? What would happen if you suddenly were unable to maintain the project any longer, then eventually we would be unable to use any of them, and reinstalling would not help, unless I am missing something. Thanks for your consideration.
