Hey everyone, here's something new!
Can you guess what it is? You probably can! xD
So, over the past few years there has been a certain amount of comic-related questions from people.
I've always wanted to get into a project like that myself, but it's an extremely intimidating task to me simply because I actually do not have ANY experience with comics, visual storytelling, layout, and anything else related to it.
I don't read comics, and I never intended to even attempt making one, because I know how much work it is and how easily the entire concept can just implode.
Working on a comic would be an entirely new field, and I typically don't enjoy working on things I know nothing about xD
With that said, thanks to all of you, I feel like I'm getting closer to being able to conjure the necessary energy now!
I've been doing some thinking and sketching and I'd say I definitely have a stable foundation for a SHORT little comic at least, and I do feel a certain curiosity, just to see how it goes ^^
Now, the pic right here is merely a “test” frame, literally just a quick rough sketch to illustrate what a single panel out of four or five on a page could look like, in a comic done by me. Spent WAY too long on the background still, which is something I really need to stop doing -.-
As you can see, the amount of detail would be rather reduced for a comic, since I'd never finish it otherwise. Many details would just get wasted anyway though, being covered up by speech-bubbles, frames, and so forth.
This seemed like a fair balance between detail and efficiency to me after some experimenting, so that's why I'm showing it off to you folks! Didn't have the time to do an entire test page with 4-6 pics sadly, but maybe that'll happen soon depending on the feedback? Who knows!
This looks “fine” to me as a simple little test frame, but I'd definitely need to get used to this more simplified style myself, and I can't blame you if you don't like it right away either xD
Well anyway, I'll be doing a related poll soon, and I have an idea for another test-image like this one in store too, just with a different approach, and I would really love to hear your opinions on the matter!
(Just to make sure it's clear: I have NOT started working on a comic just yet!
I need to do a lot of experimenting first, and I NEED to know what people think before I dive into such a serious project!
I personally am perfectly content drawing individual full scenes, but I do get the feeling that many folks would like to see a comic, and I need to find a way of increasing my range anyway, so it's probably something I'll need to look into eventually.
Plus, with all the price increases of the past weeks, I really need a boost to compensate, so this appears to be a logical step to me. We'll see what happens!)
Let me know what you think <3
