Check out gang starr if you get a chance. Rap group from the 90’s you would like how they sound especially their “moment of truth” project.

Hayden Leavitt

Love the reaction - you should give “The Recession” by Young Jeezy a react! It’s an iconic late 2000’s trap album. And trap in a good way - nothing but bangers all the way through. Plus it’s such a fun time capsule of a bygone era. Highly recommend!

Donelaitis

Not related to this, but you need to listen to FORWARD by Jordan Ward. I think you would really appreciate the production and lyrics

Zodiac Hater

Do you have the rest of the Injury Reserve Discography in the video list soon, its a pretty short discography and would be nice to have it wrapped up no? The albums are really good too, trust me.

Raitis Stafeckis

Mouse and the Mask is a great album but I gotta admit it does really help to have some knowledge of Adult Swim from the mid 00's to appreciate a lot of what's going on. Not only the skits but just a lot of the lyrics. Rhymes wise, DOOM is in full form. Thematically, it's absolutely on point. Beats are immaculate and memorable for decades. But if you don't know who Meatwad, Master Shake, and Carl are from ATHF, if you've never watched Sealab 2021 or an episode of Space Ghost or have no idea there was a show called Perfect Hair Forever, we're going to get confused Bob the entire time, lmao. HOWEVER, I say go listen to it anyway. It'll be hilarious.

The Gr8 Scott

Where's the keyboards, and the tambourine, and the guitar? And you know the stuff that like, white people like? Something badass, don't know like REO Speedwagon or somethin'?

The Gr8 Scott

Hell yeah Bob, knew you'd like this one, Black Thought is a GOAT and he's been on a crazy run these past few years. Your Closing Thoughts had me thinking-- because hip-hop is bigger than ever, even if you don't love the mainstream trap sound, thankfully there's also more backpacker-type shit than ever. Obviously gotta recommend the short album Black Thought dropped right after this one, The Glorious Game. He also works with a single producer on that one, a group that got famous for its full instrumental reimaginings of classic Wu-Tang beats. It's got less features and is a bit tighter thematically, the focus is on Black Thought rapping his fucking ass off. But for more Cheat Codes type production, your son has good taste, check out the DOOM/Danger Mouse tape. It's goofy as hell and a good time. Probably a bit less profound than Glorious Game, but that's not always a bad thing.

Jeremy

I don’t really get how you thought Black Thought was hard to hear. I’ve listened to this record in many formats and never had an issue understanding the lyrics. Great react though!

This is a great choice and album, Bob. Black Thought is one of the GOATs and the production from Danger Mouse really let him stretch out a little. I love both this and his Roots stuff and how they're essentially different styles which allow him to bring out different parts of his personality. Just a phenomenal album top to bottom. As far as your overall shift on the channel, I'm kind of happy to hear it if nothing else because I think a lot of your younger viewers steered you more towards trap albums. I have no issue with that at all as I know people are going to request you react to things they enjoy personally, but I do feel you got off your quest a tad when it comes to exploring the avenues and history of hip hop. Don't get me wrong even though there's some great trap music out there, the underground has some really great emcees that I wouldn't recommend you miss. Acts like Blu & Exile, Slum Village, Little Brother, Aesop Rock, etc. have some albums that people consider underground classics that I think you would love. Of course, there are some albums that I also hope you don't just skip over because they may be deemed gangster. You haven't touched yet on Scarface, Redman, Gangstarr and I don't think you can really tell the story of hip hop without some of those guys. Also would love some more 80s reactions, possibly some Kool G Rap, EPMD or Eric B & Rakim. End of the day I'll be here regardless, and love the content you put out. Appreciate the consistent drops!

I joined your Patreon months ago because I knew you would eventually do this. Loved it!

Jason McQuirns

Excited to see where the channel is going. tbh ive been skipping the majority of trap albums you've reacted to because I'm not into them (unless its carti :)) tons of underground artists/albums i know you'll love. you mentioned fka twigs, please do MAGDALENE before if you want to do the new one. also its one you could do with your wife if you wanted since its from a female perspective. but that was one of the best albums of that year

Mohammad Moeladawilah

Top notch production and Top notch Lyricism makes this a match made in hip hop heaven 🙌🏾

Livin Legin

Thanks for the reaction, absolutely loved that one. Also a cool side note to the Gas Face mentioned on No Gold Teeth is that it's the first track DOOM featured on as Zev Love X and got some popularity. Also would love to see your reaction to A Piece of Strange by Cunninlynguists, beautiful production and lyrically a lot to dig into, one of the best albums ever imo

Toni

Love the album and this reaction as always Bob. I think you gotta do Better off Dead by Flatbush zombies. Soundwise it’s right up your alley but also has great lyrics and energy. IMO one of the greatest mixtapes of all time.

Vaudeville Villain

Love this album. Btw, did you know that an MF DOOM biography is coming out in October? It would be cool if you gave it a read and then made a video on it.
