2024-02-25 06:47:47 +0000 UTCThis is NOT parody, is more of a homage to a very important piece of underground hip-hop with all its tropes, its somewhat satirical, but the album is somewhat of a concept album its about a hyper-thug that inside all that bravado is beyond suicidal, its on the title of the thing, in between the hilarious brags (Which while funny are still some of the most cleverly written flexes i've heard) there are lines sprinkled about just how depressed he really is, theres some Memphis tropes like the crusty album cover, horror-core satanism, how gory some of the descriptions are, the bragging and gangbang lifestyle and all, BUT it was also one of the rap genres that was open about depression and mental health struggles, i assume that and the very interesting production coming from the southern scene made an impact on Travis Miller (LUM), who is still dealing with depression (has been on suicide watch multiple times), Memphis rap and its bastard child horror-core were looked at as the ugly ducklings when they started appearing, they where the weird kids on the block talking about suicide, witchcraft in between dealing drugs and shootouts. Its a parody if you're not familiarized with the Memphis scene, its a beautifully produced, well written and very detailed homage (altough a bit satiritcal) to an at the time underrated but hugely important part of Hip-hop
