I think the album is awful but you have to hear for yourself to get it. Many Cudi fans agree but theres a small amount that like it so go for it. I'd be kinda salty if it got a video when MOTM 2 didn't but thats just me lol

I guess this would've been around the time of "rock star/rap star" the Jay Z Pharrell Collab that was featured on NFL fever.

on a side note you might wanna check out 'Lapdance' by N.E.R.D. imo that is the peak of rap rock. its from 2001 and aged really well

Something like that might be interesting to react to... not that I want to seek out albums that are considered bad, but to listen to something that is generally considered bad but the artist still stands by.

He can't react to everything on camera. There's too many albums, and he can only do one a week.

Sad not to see your reaction to MOTM 2, but i understand if you waited it might have taken too long to circle back around. Mr Rager remains my favorite Cudi song, towards the end when he hits the different note on "Heyy Mr Rager" gives me chills every time. Also love on These Worries the song kind of breaking down after the hook, then you hear him take a bump of coke and it picks right back up again, those moments hit so hard every time.

One thing you might find interesting is that between MOTM 2&3 he released a rock album. It was critically panned (Anthony Fantano at the time famously gave it his first 0/10) but Cudi still stands by it. He said he was dealing with some real shit at the time of the album and it was an even darker period than MOTM 2 and he just wanted to yell and scream and make angry songs. He also said as an artist he couldn't be afraid to take risks and you can't be scared doing this music shit. The sound is very raw and grungy. Maybe you won't like it (I can't really judge it because I don't really listen to rock music) I still think it would be an interesting reaction even if you don't like it. If you do happen to like it, that'll be awesome because it does have a small, loyal group of fans.

I know you said you want to go into albums blind but I’m gonna give you some backstory on 808s anyway lol. Don’t read this if you don’t want to.
AFAIK, The original plan for Kanye’s fourth album was for it to be a continuation of the college theme titled “Good Ass Job”. However, shortly after graduation dropped his mother passed away and a couple months after that he split with his fiancé.
Dealing with both of these “heartbreaking” events back to back caused him to change the name and changed his approach towards the album and 808s is what we got out of it.

It's okay you listened to II on your own. We all just love your reactions so much we wish we could be there to experience it with you. There are some albums out there that are worth listening to but don't need a reaction though. I'll be mentioning them in the comments. I am stoked for 808s and Heartbreak. This channel is just an endless cycle of being stoked for what's next. I love the raw reaction. That's part of the magic. You're hearing it and figuring it out for the first time. A lot of channels try to create that feeling but they've really heard it before. I can tell. I don't know how it's not obvious that they're inauthentic. The raw reaction + deep dive for additional thoughts is an excellent process.
