I joined just for this video but Bag Lady to me has been very indicative of emotional baggage and how you can't drag that pain with you in your life and also into all of your relationships I think it's meant to be a double entendre

This is my favorite Erykah Album and I was a fan since her debut. But i listened to this album repeatedly after my grandfather did. It was like hanging out with a friend. Dad’s reaction to “Orange Moon” was perfect. When she says God is, I always feel like oh my heart. Not enough space for my feelings of “Green Eyes”. I finally saw her live last September, perfect

Storm

Pure sonic healing - I know what you mean, Naia! So glad I had the priviledge to discover her music through my son.

Would give my right arm to see Erykah live! Hopefully one day. Glad you enjoyed the reaction. - dad

My favorite Erykah album. Nice review. Really enjoyed it and made me think about this album in a new light despite having heard it a gajillion times before. If you ever get a chance to see her live you should. She is PHENOMINAL live. I vote New Amerykah Part 2 for your next Erykah reaction.

HomebredBacchus

erykahs music is my deep breath, her sounds are pure sonic healing & have mended deep soul wounds many a time <3 she is a divine creative... beautiful analysis guys :)

naia peace

Yup, it definitely does, Naveen! Kai's going to have to hear that track, and the rest of the album for that matter. - Dad

The second verse in penitentiary philosophy references the end of Ordinary Pain by Stevie Wonder, which would be a dope song to check out cause I know you guys like Stevie

I didn't know it was Andre! And thats very cool that he loves the song too

Hey Guys! I hope Dad is healing well. This was awesome. I was in college when this album came out and played it to death. Fyi, there's a couple of versions of Bag Lady but this is my favorite. You might want to check out her first album too. If you watch the video for the song Other Side of The Game, off the first album, you'll see a special guest. Lastly, I can't wait to see your reaction to Inner Visions.

Shaquea White

Yaaaayyyy! I'm loving this! I had to pause and comment. You don't have to react to it, but definitely check out her Tiny Desk

Hodge House

Also, Erykah’s eyes are actually green LOL.

Erykah’s best album in my humble opinion. Great choice and an even greater review. You responded to each song about how I expected. I’m still watching you review Green Eyes while typing this. Green Eyes is one of my all time favorite songs. I love how each transition morphs into a different era of vocal jazz from the Green Eye’s first verse sang in the Billie Holiday-esq “Swing Song” style of jazz, to the free jazz style of Coltrane, perhaps, to a cool jazz feel of say a Miles Davis. Of course they aren’t exact mimics but you can clearly see the melodic intent was to transcend jazz eras with this song. I LOVE the musicality of Green Eyes.

I was waiting for this one!! Such an excellent album - just top notch production and artistry at it's finest. Nice to see others who recognize the genius of it too! I knew dad was gonna love it! Kai, "Green Eyes" is one of my all-time favorite songs too, and you did such a great job of breaking it down - the change of emotion in the lyrics with the correlating changes in the song...man, so good. Erykah is such a brilliant artist. Another great video, guys!

K. Paz

I have waited for this and your review is all I imagined and more ...❤️...Erykah's music is everything, so beautiful...I'm happy that you guys experienced this album

Neli

I'm so glad you finally reacted to this album. I hadn't listened to it in its entirety in a while, so it felt like I was rediscovering it with you!

It's Sybil

GED - General Education Development. basically, a test you can take that if you pass serves as an equivalent to a High School diploma.

Mitch Ferguson

Glad yo hear you loved the album as much as I do! 1. Orange moon made me cry the first time hearing it as well. 2. Green Eyes is one of my favorite songs of all time. Brilliant artistry… to add to your breakdown Kai.. the song is about Erykah’s breakup with Andre 3000. It flows through stages of grief… denial, anger, relapse, acceptance. I read in an interview that it’s Andre’s fav off the album and in the same spirit of Ms. Jackson he wanted ppl to learn from their experience through this song. Thanks for the great content!

Precious

Super excited about the future Stevie Wonder reaction!

Precious

YOU SHOULD DO "METROPOLIS" BY LOGIC!

Robert Boyd
