One of the most requested features since Ashe’s release has been her very own mount!
Curious what it looks like, how it ties into the next update, and what options will be available?
👇🏻Keep reading below for the full details, design previews, and my roadmap for when you’ll get to ride it in-game.
As with the last banter preview post, this is a little gesture of appreciation- so it’s open to all paying members, even at the tip-jar level!
Hey everyone,
As many of you know, alongside quest commentary and Serana banter, one of the most frequent requests has been for Ashe to have her own mount. With Version 1.2 in production, I’ve been working on exactly that: Ashe’s custom Dwemer horse.
Because Ashe herself is partially inspired by Dwemer design (though her style leans more into a black-and-white ebony palette), I wanted her mount to feel like a natural extension of her identity - mechanical, functional, but still horse-like.
That turned out to be trickier than expected. Skyrim doesn’t have many Dwemer horse options, and the ones that exist either don’t meet my standards or are locked behind Creation Club content (like Forgotten Seasons). Since Ashe will always remain a standalone mod, I won’t require extra DLC or dungeon packs just for her mount.
After a lot of digging, I finally found a resource that strikes the right balance: unmistakably Dwemer, but still recognizably a horse. (Preview image attached!) My ultimate design goal wasn’t just to drop in another Dwemer relic, though. Like Ashe herself, this mount is meant to be inspired by Dwemer craft but advanced for the current age - less an abandoned construct, and more the kind of design Aryo and Canas could have developed by reworking old schematics into something new. Even better, the mesh comes with multiple recolors, which I’m adapting into two distinct variants:

Here’s the full breakdown of how this is shaping up:
Obsidian Frame (Left) → Ashe’s personal steed. Sleek matte black plating, in line with her own look. This keeps her mount feeling like an extension of her identity, not just a standard Dwemer relic.
Heritage Chassis (Far Right) → A golden-brass variant, given to the player. It grounds the concept in the typical Dwemer tradition and color style, so that I could make sure the feature feels lore-friendly and immersive. I also wanted the player to get something and not just Ashe hahaha.
I’ve also attached reference shots of the ESO Dwemer horse, the Forgotten Seasons design, and the other lesser-known Dwemer horse mod for comparison. They’re good touchstones for how this idea has evolved, but ultimately I felt this new mesh strikes the right balance: believable, functional, and flexible enough to serve both the player and Ashe.

Here's the plan:
If everything lines up, this feature will ship with Ashe v1.2.
If timing gets tight, it may move to v1.3. In that case, I’ll temporarily use Skyrim’s standard horses until the custom mesh is fully implemented.
Either way, the horse mini-quest or dialogue awareness will be added in 1.3 (1.2, if ever, is mainly just to add the horse in for now).
I’m confident this is the right direction, but as always, I’d love to hear what you think!
Drop your thoughts in the comments - ty ty!
Thanks as always for the support! Stay awesome folks!
